The ancient Japanese healing art of shiatsu offers a two-minute exercise for relieving pain and tension and boosting your energy. The secret of this form of shiatsu is to know where to massage for the particular kind of energy boost you need.
You can combine acupressure finger massage with facial exercises that keep you looking as good as you feel.
What is shiatsu? In everyday usage, the application of needles to specific points on the body to re-energize and fight disease is known as acupuncture. The application of gentle pressure, or finger massage, to the same points is known as acupressure. In Japanese, the term for finger massage literally is 指 shi 圧 atsu, the characters for “finger” and “massage,” pronounced as one word, shiatsu.
For the next 900 years, shiatsu was more or less identical to the Chinese massage method called tuina, but in the 1940’s, Tokujiro Namikoshi found a way to integrate the traditional massage system with anatomy and physiology as it is taught in the rest of the modern world. Shiatsu, like many of the Japanese healing arts, offers the best of traditional and modern healing.
Namikoshi introduced shiatsu to the United States through the Palmer College of Chiropractic in the 1950’s, but the method became famous, and widely accepted, after he treated American movie star Marilyn Monroe in 1956, after she fell gravely ill and failed to respond to conventional treatment.
The right massage for the right indications
In the theory energy medicine, most of the energy lines of the body pass by or over the eyes. This makes massaging the orbits of the eyes (although not the eyes themselves) a good way to restore balance throughout the entire body. Even the soles of the feet, the breasts, or the liver, for example, are thought to respond to massage above and below the left and right eyes, rebalancing energies at the left and right sides of the body.
Sinus infection or the flu.
Using your index and middle fingers to press the sides of your nose, gently pressing against the nose higher and higher until you are massaging the bridge of your nose at eye level will relieve sinusitis and flu symptoms.
Or suppose you have a tension headache. Ancient Chinese and Japanese medicine taught that tension headaches were the result of built-up energy along the liver meridians, the channels up and down the body through which “liver energy” flows. The liver processes emotions, the ancients thought, and anger upsets its ability to hold the emotional energies it processes. Anger causes these energies to rise up in meridians across the nipples, along the front of the neck, squeezing the larynx, and over the center of the eyes.
You don’t want to try to massage your eyeballs. However, you can use your thumb and index finger to give a gentle pinch to the skin over your eyebrow directly over the pupils of your eyes. If you massage this area for 1 to 2 minutes, any tension headache in the back and sides of your neck will hurt less.
Eyestrain - a nearly universal problem of knowledge workers
Eyestrain is a nearly universal problem of knowledge workers, especially as they get older and they need bifocal or multifocal corrective lenses to see a computer screen. If you have to squint over and over, eyestrain is inevitable. It’s possible to avoid eyestrain ever occurring in the first place by getting good vision correction, but most of us don’t get our eyeglasses changed often enough.
If you work in an office, however, it’s almost certain you will have at least one coworker who will complain of allergies–but no coworker will complain if you use finger massage to help your eyes feel better.
Never, ever apply direct pressure to the eyeballs. To treat eyestrain you will want to give gentle stimulation to the levator palpebrae superioris muscles, the muscles you use when you raise your eyebrows, with your eyes closed. Pull up on the muscles, but do not pull hard. The effect you are looking for is like raising your eyebrows without using those muscles, rather using the gentle pressure of your thumb and index finger.
Using shiatsu to treat facial wrinkles
There’s nothing wrong, of course, with using shiatsu to treat facial wrinkles. Here you can combine shiatsu with a Japanese version of the popular technique known as facercise (facial exercise, the American version perfected by Carole Maggio). To treat wrinkles with shiatsu and facial exercise, first perform the treatments for headache and eyestrain, plus, if you happen to have some kind of nasal congestion, the treatments for colds and flu. This will only take you four to six minutes.
Then complement your shiatsu facial massage by:
1. Tightening the sides of your mouth to pucker your lips into an “O” shape, then gently releasing and repeating, up to 20 times. Done consistently over days or weeks, this exercise slowly erases frown lines.
2. Raising your eyebrows up and down 20 times. This exercise will make your eyes look fuller and also erase crows’ feet.
3. Closing your mouth, tilting your head up toward the ceiling, and jutting out your jaw. This exercise will help prevent double chins.
The cosmetic benefits of these three exercises may be noticeable in as little as seven days, but the relaxing effect on your face–and on your mind–is immediate. You don’t have stress or strain for the exercises to work. In fact, if you find yourself getting too gung ho about exercising your facial muscles, try the shiatsu exercise for tension headaches! Using two-minute shiatsu eye exercises and your facial mini-workout will help you feel better, get over illness faster, and look great, all at zero expense and in just minutes per day.

These days, it’s hard to turn on the television for more than fifteen minutes without seeing at least one commercial talking about weight loss. However, when you get right down to it, more than weight loss is important, the key is making lifestyle changes - eating more nutritious foods and focusing on physical fitness.
When you recognize that fitness matters and that you’re going to want to do more exercise, there are a number of things that you can do:
1. Choose one day of the week to walk or bike to work – at least part of the way. If your fitness level is not quite where you want it to be, you may want to take the bus partway – at least initially – and to take advantage of the bicycle racks that are at the front of many buses in most areas. In addition to improving your fitness level, biking or walking to work will help you to save at the gas pump.
2. Get active with the kids. Recent studies have shown that kids aren’t getting outside or being active enough; by spending time with the kids and focusing on fitness, you’ll find that you’re able to stay on top of what the kids are doing and to help guide them down a path to fitness.
• Schedule your workouts early in the day. Especially in the summer months, setting the alarm an hour earlier to fit in your run or ride before the heat and humidity settle in can help you to keep fitness in your routine and can ensure that you’re able to stay cooler and breathe easier in the process.
• Take more steps. While pedometers aren’t all the rage the way that they were a few years ago, taking more steps in your day can help to improve your overall fitness level. By parking further away at the grocery store or mall, by taking the stairs instead of the elevator, you’ll find that you’re able to do more to reach your fitness goals.
• Add variety. Rather than just running on the treadmill at the gym, take the time to participate in yoga and pilates classes, pedal your way through a spinning class or take your aerobics workout into the pool where increased resistance from the water can help to improve your fitness.
Fitness and weight loss aren’t just about exercise; on many levels, fitness and weight loss are about the little things and the choices that you make. Sometimes, simply by making small changes, you will find that you are able to make a considerable difference in your lifestyle.
Those who add variety to their workouts and fitness routines will find that they are able to prevent boredom and to stick with reaching their goals. Those who make small changes will find that they are able to stick with them longer and to make continual progress toward reaching their fitness goals and can help to alleviate stress, anxiety and improve your overall well being in the process; more importantly, those who embrace small changes for fitness will find that they are far more likely to stick with the program.

There’s something fishy going on over here… and that’s a good thing. Ask any health expert and they’ll tell you to add fish to your diet. The American Heart Association recommends eating fish (fatty fish to be specific) twice a week.
In addition to being low in saturated fat and high in protein, fatty fishes such as albacore tuna, mackerel, salmon, trout and herring are rich in omega-3 fatty acids. These omega-3 fatty acids decrease the risk of arrhythmias, decrease triglyceride levels, decrease growth rate of atherosclerotic plaque and lower blood pressure. Fish is also rich in vitamins, nutrients and minerals, such as riboflavin (vitamin B2), calcium, phosphorus and iron, zinc, potassium, iodine, and magnesium. Of course, the Journal of American Medical Association can’t say enough about the benefits of fish.
According to their findings, the consumption of fish lowers the risk of death from heart disease. It also decreases the risk of stroke, depression and mental decline with age. In pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers and women who plan on getting pregnant, fish provide DHA, an omega-3 fatty acid that helps the brain development of infants.
Although some fish do contain mercury, research proves that the benefits of fish consumption far outweigh the risks. Take, for example, a study conducted by the American Dietetic Association which determined that fish aids in short-term memory. Research from the Rush Institute for Healthy Aging found that people who eat one serving of fish per week were less likely to develop Alzheimer’s than people who didn’t have a diet that included fish.

While there are many forms of traditional medical treatment options available for Breast Cancer, there are also alternative treatments to consider as well. They are not meant to replace traditional cancer treatment protocols, but to be used as an addition.
In the United States, breast cancer is the second leading cause of death among women. Currently, science has not discovered the cause for a majority of breast cancers, though many of the risk factors have been identified.
There are many theories surrounding what causes cancer such as: inherited tendencies, genetic mutations, as well as certain environmental factors. The subject of breast cancer is an area of ongoing research and every single woman is at risk.
While there are many forms of traditional medical treatment options available for breast cancer, there are also alternative treatments to consider as well. These alternative treatments are not meant to replace or substitute traditional cancer treatment protocols, but to be used as an addition.
The most common conventional treatment approaches to breast cancer include; surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, hormonal and biological therapies. However, there are a growing number of alternative treatment clinics in the United States and around the world that are having good results in the treatment of breast cancer.
Acupressure and Breast Cancer
Acupressure is another method practiced in traditional Chinese medicine, it involves using pressure applied to specific parts of the body where Qi can be trapped or blocked. Practicing acupressure can actually aid in the prevention of breast cancer and lessen the likelihood of recurrence.
When beginning to practice acupressure, it is not imperative to be right on target, massaging the general area can be just as useful as focusing on the precise spot. For a person suffering from breast cancer, it is recommended to massage the cancer spots for at least 5-minutes each per day. For general breast cancer prevention, practicing acupressure 3-5 times per week has shown to be moderately effective.
Acupressure is also highly effective at reducing the side- effects associated with radiation and chemotherapy, by assisting the body in eliminating the toxins produced by these treatments. To achieve the greatest benefits possible, experts recommend practicing acupressure as often as possible.
Mind-Body Medicine and Breast Cancer
The field of mind-body medicine, while still a relatively new practice, is called Psychoneuroimmuno;ogy or PNI. When broken down, the word “Psycho,” refers to thoughts, emotions and moods, while “Neuro,” refers to the neurological and neuroendocrine systems and “Immunology,” refers to cellular structures and the body’s immune system.
The concept of mind-body medicine focuses on the interactions that take place between the brain, body, mind and behavior. Also on the powerful ways in which emotions, mentality, social, spiritual and behavior can correlate directly upon the impact of ones health. It enhances a person’s ability for self-knowledge and self-care and teaches techniques cantered around this approach.
The premise of mind-body medicine is not to be used as a treatment alternative for breast cancer, but as an enhancement to traditional medical treatment protocols. Such things included in a mind-body approach to breast cancer treatment might include use of the following methods:
• Stress management techniques: a diagnoses of cancer can cause a wide array of emotional, physical, behavioral and emotional responses in the human body. With the assistance of mind-body specialists, patients will be taught effective ways of handling the wide array of symptoms a person experiences when going through breast cancer treatment.
• Guided Imagery: negative images in the mind can cause a person to feel muscle tension, increased breathing and tachycardia (increased heart rate). With positive imaging a person can control breathing, nausea, raise blood count levels and help alleviate the symptoms of constipation and effectively manage pain.
• Laughter Therapy: laughing is a wonderful way to reduce stress and stimulate the immune system of the human body. Through this inner stimulation the body is able to aid itself in the healing process and generate more energy.
• Pain Management Methods: when a human being feels pain, the body responds by producing arousal in emotions and thoughts. Pain causes anxiety and can lead to depression, which may intensify the pain. Through mind-body medicine a patient can be taught techniques to help reduce and effectively manage pain, anxiety and depression, which will in turn assist the body in natural healing.

“ A couple of Bowen treatments, water / chemical distribution operating as intended, structural integrity restored. Pain gone. New child. And given that homeostasis may be established, won’t chemical imbalances initiating abnormal behavior be corrected? Research connected with brain damaged babies indicates that the immature brain is capable of transferring vital functions away from the damaged area, reconnecting neural pathways. When there is structural imbalance, the body’s nerve pathways and fluid distribution network must be impaired. Correcting that imbalance encourages homeostasis. A body able to operate to the best of its ability.” - Col Murray, In Search of Tom Bowen and the Therapy He Inspired…and Lots of Other Stuff
ISBT-Bowen Therapy is helping many children in some Hong Kong public schools, and continues to receive positive feedback by their happy parents and teachers.
Those with foot, big toe pain and bunions
ISBT-Bowen Therapy helps to release foot pain, bunions, pain in the big toe or hallux, by releasing tension and pain on the toe joint, reducing inflammation around the joint as well as increasing the range of motion of the restricted toe movements.
In addition to regular ISBT-Bowen treatments, the following is recommended to be performed every evening for 3-5 weeks, to help reduction of Bunion discomfort / size.
1. 20-minute Epsom Salts foot bath (2 tablespoons of Epsom Salts in 1 litre of hot water) every evening. This helps to break down the calcification of the bunion.
2. After each evening foot bath, the patient would then apply “Bunion Cream". This helps reduce some inflammation or bruising around the joint.
Although the Bowen Technique is relatively new to the UK, a recent study on the evaluation of the Bowen Technique in the treatment of Frozen Shoulder (1) undertaken by Dr Bernie Carter, principal lecturer in Children’s Nursing at the University of Central Lancashire found:
# ‘A high level of satisfaction with the therapy, a commitment to using Bowen in the future should they require it for another episode of frozen shoulder or other condition, and the intention to recommend the therapy and therapist to friends and family’
# ‘A significant improvement in shoulder mobility and associated function for all participants, with 70% of participants regaining full mobility (equal to the non-affected side) by the end of the treatment.’
# ‘Markedly reduced pain intensity scores and pain quality descriptors for all participants, although some participants recorded scores of 1-3 that they described as a slight ache to a mild pain. Participants at the end of the study no longer used the intense and invasive pain descriptors.’
The Bowen Technique cannot, from this study, claim to be 100% successful but it demonstrated a significant improvement for participants, even those with a very longstanding history of frozen shoulder. For the majority of participants it provided a good outcome particularly in relation to improved mobility.
All participants experienced improvement in their daily activities. None of the participants reported that their pain was having a severe impact on their daily activities, and there was a decrease in the reports of mild and moderate impact by the end of the treatment.
For the majority of participants (even those with a longstanding problem) it provided a good outcome particularly in relation to improved mobility. In terms of the outcome measures used in other studies – success rate, mobility, pain and functional status – Bowen can be seen to be a positive intervention and certainly one which participants in the study evaluated as being highly satisfactory.

Clean water and fresh squeezed lemon is one of the most well tested energy boosters around. Most people in America rely on caffeinated beverages like coffee to get aroused in the morning. These adrenal stimulants produce dirty energy in the form of blood sugar swings and oxidative stress. Water with lemon produces clean energy by hydrating and oxygenating the body to extraordinary energy and mental clarity.
After sleeping through the night the bodily tissues are dehydrated and need clean, pure water to filter out toxins and improve energy production in the cells. Most individuals turn to stimulants like coffee in the morning to give them a jump start. Unfortunately, coffee is a diuretic that depletes your body of water reserves and essential minerals and electrolytes like sodium, potassium, calcium & magnesium.
People feel energized by coffee due to the effects of caffeine on the adrenal glands. Coffee stimulates these organs to pump out instant energy hormones epinephrine and norepinephrine. These hormones stimulate the body to breakdown stored sugar and release it into the bloodstream. This process causes abnormal blood sugar that increases oxidative stress, free radical formation and overall tissue damage.
This is called dirty energy because it produces a rampant amount of damage to the body in order to activate energy formation. Clean energy produces cellular energy without an excessive load of oxidative stress.
Food as Bioelectrical Energy
The food and beverages we eat provide electrically charged molecules that initiate energy production in our body. An ion is part of a molecule that carries an electrical charge. Positively charged ions are called “cations,” while negatively charged ions are called “anions.”
Most of the food we put into our bodies comes in a cationic form, while our natural digestive processes (hydrochloric acid, digestive enzymes, saliva) are anionic. Lemon is one of the only anionic foods on the planet. This means that it carries a very strong negative charge and is extremely electrically active.
Fresh lemon helps oxygenate the body and maximizes enzyme function. Lemon is known to stimulate the liver’s natural enzymes. This assists the liver in the process of dumping toxins like uric acid and of liquefying congested bile ducts.
Citric Acid Cleanses the System
Citric acid can also play a very important role in chelating out abnormal calcium stones. It has a unique ability to form soluble complexes with calcium that many have used to eliminate pancreatic stones and kidney stones. This mechanism can also help prevent calcium deposits from building up in the arteries that promote cardiovascular disease.
Clean water with lemon provides the body with hydration, anti-oxidants and electrolytes. Lemon is a rich source of the immune boosting vitamin C. It also has good quantities of electrolytes such as potassium, calcium and magnesium. Lemon is a tremendous source of citrus bioflavonoid anti-oxidant phytonutrients that have been given the label Vitamin P.
Vitamin P consists of the flavonoid glycosides hesperetin and naringenin among others. Studies have shown that vitamin P enhances the anti-oxidant capability of vitamin C. These bioflavonoids also improve capillary permeability and overall blood flow. This is especially important for oxygenating tissues and maintaining normal blood pressure. These anti-oxidants have also been shown to reduce swelling, venous backup and edema.
Upon rising take 1 full lemon and squeeze it into 16-32 oz of fresh clean water and drink. Be sure to eat out the membranous parts of the lemon where the majority of the pectin fiber and citrus bioflavonoids are located. Stevia can be added to form sugar-free lemonade. Apple cider vinegar and various herbs can be used to boost enzymatic and anti-oxidant potential.

It can sometimes be hard to distinguish facts from old wives’ tales when it comes to health information, particularly as some of the biggest fallacies are so widespread. To help you separate fact from fiction, check out the truth behind 10 of the most common health myths.
Eating late at night makes you fat
Many of us are familiar with the claim that eating late at night will cause you to gain weight. However, not only is there little research to back up this claim, but separate studies by Dunn Nutrition Centre and Oregon Health & Science University have suggested that it is little more than a myth. While missing meals throughout the day can cause you to binge of an evening, it is not the time you eat that matters so much as the quantity. The fact is, as long as you burn off the amount of calories that you eat during each day, it is irrelevant what time you eat them.
Reading in dim light damages your eyesight
Good news for all those who remember reading under covers using a torch as a child, according to researchers from the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, while it may cause temporary dryness and eye strain, reading in dim light does not permanently damage your eyes. Likewise, the common belief that sitting too close to the TV set will ruin your eyesight is yet another old wives’ tale (just for the record, it also won’t make them square!).
You can ‘catch up’ on missed sleep at the weekend
Lack of sleep has been linked to a whole host of health problems, including weight gain and heart disease. However, many of us believe that it is OK to sacrifice sleep during the week so long as we have a ‘catch up’ sleep at the weekend. Sadly, this may not be the case. In a study led by a sleep expert at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, participants were restricted to just four hours’ sleep for five nights and then given a “recovery” sleep of 10 hours. Even after this sleep their reaction times, attention span and levels of fatigue failed to return to normal, showing that a single weekend lie-in may not be sufficient to make up for the effects of lack of sleep during the week.
Cold weather increases your risk of catching a cold
With more of us catching colds in the winter months, many of us believe that this is due to the weather. However, the experts remain dubious. In a study by the Common Cold Research Unit a group of volunteers were inoculated with a cold virus and then split into two groups; half kept in a warm room while the others stood wet in a hallway after taking a bath. Results surprisingly showed no difference in the number of people who caught colds within the two groups. Rather than being due to the cold weather, it is thought that the cold virus spreads more easily during the winter months as more people are driven indoors where they come into close contact with others.
Vitamin C prevents colds
Another cold related myth; it is a widespread belief that taking a daily supplement of vitamin C will protect you from catching a common cold. However, while those exposed to periods of high stress (such as marathon runners) can indeed reduce their risk of catching the cold virus through daily supplementation, a review of 30 studies published in the Cochrane Library has suggested that, for the average person, taking a daily dose of vitamin C does little to reduce the severity or length of a cold.
Thin is better than fat
With the growing obesity problem in modern society and all its publicized health implications, many of us understandably hold the belief that being fat is the worst possible thing for our health. However, while it is true that being overweight can be damaging to our health, being underweight is just as bad for us if not worse. In fact, a study by researchers at Tohoku University found that those who are overweight at 40 are likely to live longer than those who are thin, with underweight people being at greater risk of heart disease and pneumonia.
All bacteria are harmful
We seem to be increasingly aiming for an environment that is perfectly sterile. However, while we tend to think of bacteria as germs responsible for illness, healthy skin is actually covered in around 1000 different species of “good bacteria” which can actually help prevent disease. Likewise, the human gut contains a multitude of good bacteria which help to keep us healthy. While good hygiene is of course important, so is protecting our good bacteria by avoiding overuse of antibiotics or over-cleansing the skin.
We should all drink eight glasses of water a day
We are all familiar with the ubiquitous advice to drink eight glasses of water a day. However, more recent research has suggested that there is actually no scientific evidence supporting this recommendation, and that drinking excessive amounts of water can actually be dangerous. While we all need to stay hydrated throughout the day, a proportion of our required fluid intake is generally met through the food we eat. Furthermore, our fluid recommendations will vary depending on the temperature and how active we are, amongst other factors.
Breastfeeding makes your boobs sag
While many new mums are inundated with claims over the health benefits of breastfeeding, some are put off by the worry over what it will do to their breasts. However, here’s some research to put your minds at rest, ladies: a study led by author and plastic surgeon Brian Rinker has shown that, contrary to what many believe, breastfeeding does not cause breasts to sag. After evaluating patients’ medical history, the research found no difference in saging breast between women who breastfed and those who hadn’t. In fact, it is the pregnancy itself that contributes to the changes that women see in their breasts, alongside smoking and age.
As long as you exercise you can eat whatever you want
Many people believe that only overweight, inactive people need to watch what they eat. However, this is a massive untruth. Not only do many people overindulge following exercise, causing them to cling on to those extra pounds, but even for those who don’t gain weight easily plying your body with junk food can still cause damage to your health. While staying active can lower your risk of conditions such as heart disease, to help stay in optimum health it is still advisable to eat well and make sure you don’t miss out on vital nutrients essential for good health.

The common cold is a viral infectious disease of the upper respiratory system. While it gives you ailments like cough, sore throat, runny nose, and fever, it can also lead to breathing problems as there are good chances of the nasal passage getting congested.
We can understand what a horrible experience it is to have a stuffed nose and keep gasping for breath every other minute. You can easily pick up cold by inhaling somebody else’s germs or touching someone who has a virus and then touching your eyes and nose, thereby allowing the germs to enter your body. Once the virus has invaded, it opens its account in your throat and starts producing baby viruses by hundreds. These viruses then traverse all around your body and trigger those hateful symptoms like: a stuffy/drippy nose, sore throat, aches, breathing problems and cough.
These are some of the detestable symptoms of cold:
Runny nose
Cough
Nasal congestion
Sore or itchy throat
Sneezing
Watery eyes
Mild headache
Mild fatigue or body aches
Fever less than 102 degrees
It is said that time is the sure-shot cure for cold. It is a viral infection and may last for 7 to 10 days. There are medications available to treat cold but they do no magic. The medicines curb the symptoms and may help you recover quickly. For prevention and treatment of cold, natural remedies should be preferred over pharma drugs as the latter have been found to create several adverse effects in the body.
Let’s take a look at some of the natural remedies for cold:
Using Lemon
Vitamin C-rich lemon juice is known to amplify body resistance, decrease toxicity and reduce the duration of illness. Take a lemon and squeeze it into a glass of water. Add a teaspoon of honey. This should be taken once or twice daily.
Using Garlic
Garlic soup is time-tested remedy to battle cold. The soup can be easily prepared by boiling three or four cloves of chopped garlic in a cup of water. In soup form, it flushes out all toxins from the system and thus helps bring down fever. This soup should be taken once a day.
The oil which resides inside garlic helps open the clogged respiratory passages. Five spoons of garlic oil should be mixed with a teaspoon of onion juice and then diluted in a cup of water. The resulting mixture can be taken two or three times a day.
Using Turmeric
Apart from cold, Ginger also works wonders for throat irritations. Half a teaspoon of turmeric powder mixed in 30 ml of warm milk can be taken 1-2 times daily. Turmeric powder should be put into a hot ladle (the spoon used for pouring soup). Milk should then be poured in it and boiled over a slow fire. In case you have a running nose, smoke from burning turmeric can provide quick relief.
Using Bitter Gourd
Many would be sulking as they read this but bitter gourd is not as bitter when it comes to treatment of cold. You would need the roots of bitter gourd to prepare this remedy. A teaspoon of root paste, mixed with an equal quantity of honey or holy basil leaf juice can be taken once every night. This will help you get rid of the cold soon and will keep the symptoms at bay.
Using Honey
Honey is a popular home remedy for cold and cough in many cultures. It is believed that honey works by soothing and coating an irritated throat; not to forget its antioxidant-ial and antibacterial effects.

A modern epidemic, a deadly disease that one of every two of you have, a disease that’s making you fat, sick and will kill you, but 90 percent of you don’t even know you have it.
This disease is diabesity, the continuum of abnormal biology that ranges from mild insulin resistance to full-blown diabetes.
I want to explain the real causes of diabesity and provide eight steps you can take to reverse this disease starting today.
The Real Causes of Diabesity
The entire spectrum of diabesity including all of its complications – diabetes, elevated blood sugar, blood pressure and cholesterol – are simply downstream symptoms that result from problems with diet, lifestyle, and environmental toxins interacting with our unique genetic susceptibilities.
Those are the real causes of diabesity.
And the reason these dietary and lifestyle factors lead to diabesity is because they create a condition known as insulin resistance. Contrary to what most people think, Type 2 diabetes is a disease of too much, not too little, insulin. Insulin is the real driver of problems with diabesity.
When your diet is full of empty calories and an abundance of quickly-absorbed sugars, liquid calories and carbohydrates (like bread, pasta, rice and potatoes), your cells slowly become resistant to the effects of insulin and need more and more to do the same job of keeping your blood sugar even. Thus you develop insulin resistance. A high insulin level is the first sign of a problem. The higher your insulin levels are, the worse your insulin resistance. Your body starts to age and deteriorate. In fact, insulin resistance is the single most important phenomenon that leads to rapid and premature aging and all its resultant diseases, including heart disease, stroke, dementia and cancer.
As your insulin levels increase it leads to an appetite that is out of control, increasing weight gain around the belly, more inflammation and oxidative stress, and myriad downstream effects including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, low HDL, high triglycerides, weight gain around the middle, thickening of the blood and increased risk of cancer, Alzheimer’s and depression. These are all a result of insulin resistance and too much insulin. Elevated blood sugar is not the source of the problem.
And because insulin resistance (and diabesity) are a direct outcome of diet and lifestyle, the condition is 100 percent reversible in the vast majority of cases. Most people just need to eliminate the things that are sending their biology out of balance and include what’s needed to help the body rebalance itself. For most, the interventions required are extremely simply and extraordinarily effective.
8 Steps to Reversing Diabesity
In my new book, “The Blood Sugar Solution,” which comes out next February, I outline a comprehensive 8-week plan for overcoming diabesity in all its forms. Here is a sneak preview of the steps outlined in the book:
1. Get the right tests. Most doctors focus on fasting blood sugar. This is actually a poor indicator of diabesity. The best test to tease out the condition is an insulin response test where insulin levels are measured fasting and then 1 and 2 hours after a glucose drink. Demand this test from your doctor.
2. Get smart about nutrition. Despite the media hype and the seeming confusion amongst doctors, the basics of nutrition are extremely simple. Eliminate sugar and processed carbohydrates, include whole real foods like lean protein (chicken or fish), veggies, nuts, seeds, beans and whole grains.
3. Get the right supplements. There has recently been a frenzy of negative reports about supplements. Most of them are unfounded. Supplements are an essential part of treating diabesity. A good multivitamin, vitamin D, fish oil and special blood sugar balancing nutrients like alpha lipoic acid, chromium polynicotinate, biotin, cinnamon, green tea catechins and glucomannan should also be included.
4. Get relaxed. Stress is a major unrecognized contributor to insulin resistance and blood sugar imbalance. Push your pause button every day with deep breathing, visualization, yoga and other relaxation techniques.
5. Get moving. Aside from changing your diet, exercise is probably the single best medication for diabesity. Walk for at least 30 minutes every day. For some, 30-60 minutes of more vigorous aerobic exercise 4-6 times a week may be necessary.
6. Get clean and green. Environmental toxins also contribute to diabesity. Filter your water, look for green cleaning products and avoid plastics when you can.
7. Get personal. While the steps above will address 80 percent of the problems with diabesity, some may need to take additional steps to optimize key areas of their biology. Remember, the medicine of the future is personal medicine. Seek out your own biological imbalances and look for ways to address them.
8. Get connected. Research is beginning to show that we get better more effectively when we get together. Invite your friends, families and neighbors to change their diets and lifestyle along with you. Together we can all take back our health.
And keep your eyes peeled for “The Blood Sugar Solution,” due out next February, where I outline all of the social, economic, biological and medical underpinnings of this health epidemic and provide an 8-week, step-by-step system that will allow you to dig deep into your own biology and heal even the most severe cases of diabesity.

YOGA has wide-ranging therapeutic values, one of the most important being the management of type 2 diabetes. But how exactly does yoga prevent/cure diabetes?
Yoga helps you keep your blood sugar levels under control in three ways: by checking your weight; by relieving stress (a major trigger for escalating blood glucose levels) and by improving the functions of the pancreas (the organ that produces insulin, a glucose-regulating hormone). Even though there’s very little scientific data to prove yoga’s action on the pancreas, wisdom in the field points to it. I would recommend a few asanas that will help you control diabetes better than before.
BHUJANGASANA
Lie on your stomach with legs and toes together and pointing outward, hands by the side of the body, palms facing upward and forehead on the floor. Now bend hands from the elbows and place palms on the floor near each shoulder. Keeping your thumb under the armpit, raise the chin and turn the head backward over the right shoulder as you inhale. Raise the thorax up to the navel. Hold this position for some time while breathing normally. Come down to the starting position while exhaling. Also good for bronchitis, asthma and spondylitis. It strengthens the spine, lends flexibility to the chest, shoulders and abdomen and firms the buttocks.
DHANURASANA
Lie on your stomach and bend your knees, holding your ankles with both hands. Inhale and raise the upper body and legs. Hold for some time, breathing normally and come back to the starting position. Also good for digestion, this asana cures constipation while strengthening and improving the function of your spine.
NAUKASANA
Lie down on your back with your feet together and palms resting on your thighs. Inhale and raise both legs, lifting your upper body off the floor. Hold it for some time and breathe normally keeping your hands parallel to the floor. Now come back to the starting position slowly. Also good for nervousness and tension. Naukasana lends flexibility to your joints and bolsters the capacity of your intestines, while improving the functions of your stomach, liver and pancreas.
BHRAMARI PRANA-YAMA
Sit on the floor in a comfortable posture with a straight back, eyes closed and shoulder muscles relaxed. Inhale deeply and exhale slowly with a murmuring sound like a bee. Also good for lungs. It enhances your oxygen efficiency by reducing carbon-dioxide in the blood.
VAMANKRIYA
Add one tablespoonful of salt to one litre of lukewarm water and drink all of it, as quickly as possible, until you feel full to the point of throwing up. Lean forward and insert the middle and index fingers of your right hand deep into your throat. Vomit out the water until your stomach is empty. Relax in the shavasana pose for 10 mins. You need to do this near a wash basin. Also good for gastro-intestinal problems. It also relieves you of headaches, nervous weakness, chronic cold and asthma.

Yes, it is possible.
Internet can make it possible for you to earn through your laptop provided you are aware of the right way of using it.
Everybody earns a profit by virtue of creating/acquiring a product and selling it on a profit.
The product must help the customer in gaining advantage. Its purchase by customer would result into your profit. So you need to select a product, promote it into the related market and gain profit.
Internet gurus have been guiding suggesting different ways of creating a product and putting it in the market for earning a profit but the biggest problem is faced in gaining eyeballs/traffic for your product. You essentially need traffic for earning profit.
Now there is a simpler way to gain traffic (a heavy traffic). You can lay your hands on an application which would regularly help you.
Users will love this software because:
• It’s extremely intuitive and easy to use

Start an online store and earn regular income by promoting your store.
You earn profit by offering a product which has demand in the market. Every product which helps in simplifying a work would be preferred by the customer. Therefore you need a product which has wider demand. You need to source it, store it and sell it. You need to find customers by widely publicizing your products. Regular follow-up will ensure you increasing sales.
Surely the above would pose a difficult proposition:
What products may be in greater demand? Where to get it from? How to publicize your products and draw the customers to your E-store? How to maintain a regular follow-up?
Well, all the above problems can be solved for you:
Each month, you may gain hand-select two hot markets that have been analyzed and determined to be profitable. Personal team of researchers, writers, designers and copywriters put together a custom “niche pack.” Quite simply, a custom niche pack includes all of the elements your website needs to begin making money in the niche.
With a few simple tweaks, you can “personalize” each niche pack so that it’s fully customized for your personal use. This includes putting your own name (or a ‘pen’ name) on your eBook, changing the title on the graphics, and a few other optional modifications.
Once you’re finished personalizing your niche packs, simply load them into Niche Profit Press - the push-button site-building software available within the members area.
Voila! You’ll have two fully-built websites ready to go in a matter of minutes. From there, all you really need to do is follow the traffic blueprints, included in your members area, to begin getting traffic and making sales.
You can repeat this process each month when new niche packs are released. Many NPC students have achieved amazing success following this exact method.
The Choice Is Yours!
Whether you elect to use the niche packs as a training resource or as part of a real website, you’ll undoubtedly find them immensely valuable as you take action with the training.

The word Arthritis was heard only in context of people beyond the age of 50 years. However, now it makes a subtle entry into the lives of youngsters between 25 to 30 years.
Pain stiffness, swelling or redness around the joints could just be the beginning of a debilitating disease. Contrary to the popular belief, arthritis can also be found in youngsters. Reasons for this could range from the lifestyle to posture to food habits.
From the air we breathe to the food we consume, there is no 100 percent nutrition one can claim. Emphasizing on the need of healthy lifestyle Dr. (Col.) O. P. Garg, Rheumatologist at BLK Super Speciality Hospital said, ‘While earlier and accurate diagnosis can help to prevent irreversible damage caused due to Arthritis, adopting a healthy lifestyle is the first step towards improvement under the treatment of such a condition.’
Gen Y today, believe in leading a cool lifestyle, rather than a healthy one. Junk eating, the most prominent habit is considered one of the major culprits.
While unhealthy eating habits is one side of the story, the other reason could also be postural flaws. Poor posture happens easily if one is intensely concentrating on the work at hand. It is very difficult to consciously maintain proper posture. But, if the study space is arranged properly initially, one won’t have to think about constantly checking his or her posture.
Common posture mistakes:
The most common bad posture is slumping or slouching while sitting. This is where the shoulders are rounded forward and the head is pulling forward. This puts damaging stress on the muscles, joints, and discs of the neck, upper back, and shoulders. Prolonged sitting puts excessive strain on the muscles of your upper back often causing Burning Upper Back Pain.
Here’s how you can guard against Arthritis
Your desk should have sufficient knee room
Your monitor should be approximately an arm’s length away
Your wrists should be in a neutral position when using a computer
Your chair should be adjustable, comfortably padded with no sharp edges on the seat
Your chair should preferably have arm rests that comfortably support the elbows and forearms
Your monitor should be positioned directly in front so that the body and head are not rotated
Study in well lit areas to avoid eye strain and to avoid bending in order to see the reading material
Take periodic “eye breaks” to relieve eye strain
Take occasional study breaks, e.g. a standing/walking break for a few minutes every 30-60 minutes
Perform periodic stretching exercises of the back, neck, shoulders, arms, wrists, and fingers
Apart from these tips, ensure you follow a diet rich in vitamins fruits and vegetables, which contain important vitamins and minerals, especially vitamin E.
Food rich in Omega 3 fatty acids are also a good choice. Keep shifting postures while studying and ensure you take frequent naps during the day, to ease out stress. Last but definitely not the least, have a regular check on your weight. If you are overweight, resort to physical exercises. Plan a good cardio work out or register for yoga classes.

They are the main cause of world blindness with over half of those aged 65 and over affected by cataract developments in one or both eyes.
But now scientists have created a revolutionary drug that could prevent the clouding that gradually develops over the lens.
Revealed by a team at Adelaide University in Australia this is the first time a non-surgical cure for the debilitating condition has been discovered.
Now testing of a new drug compound developed in collaboration with Calpain Therapeutics has shown to significantly slow cataract progression.
Lead inventor Professor Andrew Abell, who has been working on the project for the past decade told the Australian Advertiser: ‘Optometrists can tell very early on whether you have signs of cataracts, well before they affect vision.
‘By using the drug early, you could slow their development so much it would not actually develop.’
Childhood cataracts are very rare, affecting about 3 in 10,000 children in the UK.
Currently the procedure to remove a cataract lasts 30-45 minutes, with vision improving almost immediately and with glasses about 95 per cent of people report normal vision.
Dr Tim Lovell CEO of Calpain Therapeutics said: ‘Our drug could be either drops or a cream that you put in your eyes each night before you go to sleep.
‘Through a routine eye exam, optometrists and ophthalmologists can see the early stages of a cataract forming, likely before the person has any idea they have it.
‘Once it’s detected, then you could start to use the drug to slow its progress.’
He added to The Advertiser in Australia: ‘Because we know that if you have a cataract in one eye you will most likely get one in the other eye, you could start to apply the drug to both eyes, delaying the onset of a cataract in one while slowing the growth of the cataract that has been diagnosed.’
The drug has been named as one of five finalists in The University of Queensland Business School’s Enterprize business plan competition.

Everybody of us wish to learn the way to start earning good amounts, regularly.
Usually we need to invest money or time. Value of our time improves with the knowledge and experience we have acquired in a period of time.
Internet has enabled hundreds of persons to earn very good income, on regular basis. Surprisingly they have no money to invest and no specific qualification. They could be college/school drop-outs, or persons with varied experiences. It could you him or me.
But the question is – Who and how they have succeeded in earning a regular income. It is simply smart working. They have learnt the right points to strike and earn money.
Gurus promise to teach those points and ask for any amount of money. How about learning it from a successful person who has an established name in the field of “Online earning”
Here is an amazing true story of how a woman – Rosalind Gardner, with NO business experience became a Super Affiliate earning $500,000+ per year selling other people’s stuff online
So, What is Affiliate Marketing?
In a nutshell, affiliate marketing is an arrangement between an online merchant and affiliate (you), in which the affiliate earns a commission for generating sales, leads and/or clicks for the merchant’s web site.
For example, many credit card companies will pay you between $5 and $20 in commission for each visitor that you send to their site who completes a credit card application, and up to $55 for those whose applications are approved.
That’s a great commission, and although many companies pay less, there are also many companies that pay much MORE!
Over the years, thousands of ‘regular, non-technical folks’ (just like you — and me) have learned how to start and run their own successful affiliate marketing businesses using the methods I teach in the Super Affiliate Handbook (and as an industry expert speaker, magazine columnist and consultant) and YOU can learn them too!
Rosalin Gardner teaches by example – using her own affiliate sites..
From blog installation, to design, content creation and all methods of marketing - She STILL does it all. (Note: Many other affiliate training packages use MY affiliate sites as examples without her permission. That’s because those so-called ‘trainers’ don’t have affiliate sites. They pretend to be working affiliates to take your money, but they don’t have any real experience.)
Using a step-by-step plan to business-building, the ‘Super Affiliate Handbook’ answers all of the questions you will have and many, many more.
Here are some examples of what you will learn:
• You get 200+ information-packed pages of practical tips and real-life examples of WORKING affiliate sites (Note: Many Affiliate Managers recommend the Super Affiliate Handbook to their affiliates. In fact, Anik Singal makes it required reading for his staff. )
• “How To” strategies to save you money, time, and effort while building your affiliate marketing business.
• Get an easy-to-understand 5-step overview of the business-building process.
• Discover the top 25 mistakes that ‘normal’ affiliates make, and how to AVOID them.
• How to create a web site that keeps visitors coming back for more.
• 29 ways to market your affiliate sites online and off.
• Why you must stay away from the ‘flea market’ approach to Internet marketing.
• How to assess a market for profitability.
• Discover which products are actually sold online.
• Learn which programs to avoid and when to drop others.
• Where to find free software that will save you both time and money.
• Learn how to negotiate a raise in your commissions.
• Learn how to stop Thieves from Stealing YOUR Commissions.

“Fasting is, without any doubt, the most effective biological method of treatment… it is the ‘operation without surgery’… it is a cure involving exudation, reattunement, redirection, loosening up and purified relaxation. While fasting, the patient improves her or his physical health and gains much. But he or she will have neglected the most important thing if the hunger for spiritual nourishment that manifests itself during fasting is not satisfied.” said Otto Buchinger, Sr., M.D., Germany’s great, self-described “fasting therapist,” who founded the most famous of several renowned, European Buchinger Kliniks in 1952.
For perhaps the first time in your entire life, fasting affords a physiological rest to the digestive, assimilative and protective organs of your body. Fresh fruit and vegetable juices require little digestion, and are quickly assimilated from the upper digestive tract. Therefore, most of the 10% of bodily energy normally involved in your mastication, assimilation, digestion, and elimination is freed up. This is another reason you’ll feel more - not less - energy throughout properly-done juice-fasting - unlike the physically debilitating weakness water-fasters experience.
Additionally, these many fruit and vegetable juices all supply excellent energy, minerals, vitamins, live enzymes, and other nutrients necessary to enhance health during the fast. By providing much of the body’s daily caloric needs with easily-digested juices, the release of toxins from the fat cells is much more gentle and gradual.

Recently, studies have been conducted by the Diabetes Prevention Program and the American Diabetes Association to see how vinegar can help with type 2 diabetes.
Apple Cider Vinegar vs. Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is marketed as an alternative form of cure for diseases such as diabetes. However, msn.com states that the American Diabetes Association found in 2005 that vinegar may help you with your diabetes, but the benefits are not exclusively linked to apple cider vinegar.
According to curezone.com, a study on the effects of vinegar on type 2 diabetics was conducted in 2004 by the Diabetes Prevention Program. Participants were given 20 grams of vinegar with one tsp of saccharine and 40 grams of water two minutes before eating a meal that consisted of 87 grams of carbohydrates. The results indicated that consuming vinegar before meals is beneficial to people who are resistant to insulin.
Thus, vinegar can keep your blood sugar down after you eat. You may add small amounts of vinegar to your meals or take some after eating. However, do not drink large amounts of vinegar all at once because of its acidity.
Considerations
While vinegar may help cure your type 2 diabetes symptoms, check with your doctor before doing so. Do not replace insulin or other forms of treatment with vinegar.
Apple cider vinegar does not have the same health benefits as a whole apple does. Generally, apple cider vinegar contains tonic water and small amounts of potassium, iron, magnesium, copper, calcium, copper, phosphorus, and manganese. According to findarticles.com, apple cider vinegar does not contain the amino acids, fiber, or vitamins that the whole apples do. Weight loss is often recommended for type 2 diabetics, which fiber can help you accomplish, as such foods keep you full for longer. Hence, it may be more beneficial to eat an apple as opposed to apple cider vinegar.

Eating just a handful of walnuts a day could help cut the risk of breast cancer by up to half, scientists have revealed.
Researchers investigated the effects of giving the nuts to mice from when they were in the womb, via their mothers, to adulthood, with the amount equating to about 2oz a day for humans.
It could be good news for fans of Waldorf salads, which famously use walnuts as an ingredient.
The salad was created in the 1890s at the New York hotel of the same name, although walnuts were only added to the original recipe later.
Elaine Hardman, who led the study, said the mice given walnuts not only had a lower risk of cancer but those which developed the disease had fewer and smaller tumours.
These reductions are particularly important when you consider that the mice were genetically programmed to develop cancer at a high rate,’ she said.
‘We were able to reduce the risk for cancer even in the presence of a pre-existing genetic mutation.
‘The results of this study indicate that increased consumption of walnuts could be part of a healthy diet and reduce risk for cancer in future generations.’
The project at Marshall University, West Virginia, also used genetic analysis.
This found that the walnut diet changed the activity of multiple genes which are relevant to breast cancer in both mice and humans.
Miss Hardman added that other studies have also clearly shown that several ingredients in the nuts reduce the risk of cancer or slow its growth.
She claims her research, reported in the journal Nutrition and Cancer, highlighted the vital role diet plays in health. ‘What we put into our bodies makes a big difference: it determines how the body functions, our reaction to illness and health’.
‘Food is important medicine in our diet.
‘The simple stuff really works: eat right, get off the couch, and turn off the TV.
‘The results of this study indicate that increased consumption of walnut could be part of a healthy diet and reduce risk for cancer in future generations,’ she said. In this case, adding healthy fat and other components meant that unhealthy fat was reduced to keep total dietary fat balanced in the mice.
Hardman said other studies have clearly shown, however, that multiple ingredients in walnuts reduce the risk of cancer or slow its growth.
Other testing showed that increases in omega 3 fatty acids did not fully account for the anti-cancer effect, and found that tumour growth decreased when dietary vitamin E increased.
The study was funded by grants from the American Institute for Cancer Research and the California Walnut Commission.

Are you smart enough to grab the attention of the people around you?
In every gathering there are women and men who are centre of attention since they display a smart personality – well-dressed, upright-posture, strong and active.
As a species we often take a shorthand approach to processing information. Determining whether another person is attractive relies upon highly-developed visual-perception circuits. These circuits rapidly process a number of clues about a potential mate’s status. They run through a rapid-fire series of questions and answers. Young? Strong? Fertile? Likely to win a knife fight?
We emphasize, augment, or sometimes downright lie about the qualities that other people may find attractive in us. And while we are going to talk about health, it’s not going to be as it directly pertains to muscle mass or body fat. We’re going to talk about an effect that will become even more pronounced as you age.
Posture
You thought that this topic was going to be sexier, right? Well, it’s going to make you sexier so stick around.
Do you want your post-retirement nickname to be The Silver Fox instead of Old Droopy?
Posture is a significant indicator of youth, vitality and mental state. And all of those things feed into the subconscious list of attractive qualities that others seek. According to Professor Geoffrey Miller, author of The Mating Mind and Spent, good posture can increase apparent health and fitness in several ways:
1. Tall height, which is especially attractive in males
2. Active youthfulness, as people tend to slump with age
3. Improved energy level, as tired people slump
4. Active mental health, as depressed people slump
Studies have also shown improved posture to have an immediate effect on confidence.
Traditionally, horrible posture has not been a factor for most people until they’re in their autumn years. That is no longer the case. Posture is getting worse (and this issue is becoming amplified by age).
Our posture is collectively going to shit. The movement quality we see in people walking in off the street now is significantly worse than it was 10 years ago. If you want a quick idea of what posture looks like, sit yourself down in a café with a lot of pedestrian traffic outside. Use anterior head carriage as your go-to criterion (the middle of the ear should, in theory, be in-line with the middle of the shoulder).
Narrow your gaze to everyone over the age of 50. You will witness the people who have likely been stuck behind desks since childhood. The result is that they show their age through the degenerative changes to their spines. This is a fair baseline for compromised posture. It’s not inevitable, but it’s very likely for sedentary people.
The real problem is that after most people finish at the office, they get up, walk over to the next computer and sit down again. They no longer head off to chop wood, repair boats, or build houses. Instead, they rush home to hit Facebook, hit the Xbox or watch videos of guys getting kicked in the nuts.
Lifestyle isn’t the only factor here. We know that the amount of time schoolchildren spend in front of computers has been on the rise ever since scientists figured out how to squeeze a computer onto a desktop.
The human body wasn’t designed to be stuck in any one position for very long. When it is stuck in a position for a long time, a number of adaptive changes take place that result in impaired posture.
Tips for looking and performing better by improving your posture:
Chest Up, Ribs Forward: “Chest up!” is a very common weightroom cue designed to get you to stop rounding your lower back. It might be more accurate to say “ribs forward.” If we follow the natural curve of the lumber spine, we can help preserve or restore it by trying to drive your lats forward through the ribs. You’ll do just this to build proper lumbar spine alignment on top of your neutral pelvis.
Shoulders Back: Squeeze your shoulder blades together for a moment before letting them settle. Having your chest up (from the previous step) makes it easier to keep the shoulders from falling forward.
Neck Packed: People often make the mistake of tilting the head too far forward or too far backward. Instead, elevate the crown of your head as high as possible without decapitating yourself.
Breathe: Do you: Breathe? Or breathe well?
‘Breathing well’ means using the diaphragm. Ask anyone and they’ll tell you the same thing. However, there’s telling and then there’s doing. Doing (on the regular) will make it dramatically easier to maintain good posture.
Get Ready for Action:Your default sitting position should resemble a (good) front squat. To achieve this position, lower yourself into a squat until you’re lightly touching the chair). Your weight should be toward your heels and you should feel no stress on your knees. From here, slowly sink your weight onto the chair until your muscles are only slightly engaged. Work on keeping the ribcage pushed forward. You’ll notice that your core is engaged, your neck is packed, and that you’ll feel ready to stand.
It’s hard to get lazy about core activation when you’re ready for action. That’s good. Just remember not to let your lower-back round.
Now Go Get Some Action: Regardless of what you do when you’re not working, make sure that you stand up, reach for the sky or simply walk around every 10-20 minutes. This will help you overcome some of the adaptations that your body makes to sitting. It will help you move better, feel better and look better. These are all essential traits for anyone who wants to let the world know that their genes are worth chasing.

We can thank one of the world’s most beautiful women, wife of actor Orlando Bloom, Miranda Kerr, for sending the sales of coconut oil soaring.
1. Kerr attributes her blemish-free skin and glossy hair to this oil. “I will not go a day without coconut oil. I personally take four tablespoons per day, either on my salads, in my cooking or in my cups of green tea.” Her endorsement has got women scurrying out to stock up on coconut oil.
2. Sales at a UK-based health food chain Holland & Barrett had shot up by 50 per cent in the past year and that much of the demand was recent. A £ 12.59 (Rs 900) pot of the store’s own- brand product was sold out on its website as they hurried to re-stock.
3. Coconut tree, also called the tree of life in the Caribbean islands, has been used for centuries in India for traditional remedies. Once again, science proves that tradition is right. It is a known fact that coconut oil gives you beautiful hair, but a lesser known fact is that, in south India, coconut is also a very popular skincare ingredient.
4. From being used for skin nourishment in ayurvedic massages, it is also used in the treatment of boils, sores, viral infections and abscesses, dermatologist and hair expert Aparna Santhanam said. “Coconut has a unique mechanism of moisturising and hydrating the skin by locking the moisture within the skin which is not only effective but also long lasting. The molecular size of the fatty acids in the oil is very small, thereby, ensuring excellent penetration,” Santhanam added.
5. A unique property of coconut is that it is rich in medium chain fatty acids ( lauric acid) which makes it an a potent anti- inflammatory agent and an antioxidant. This is the reason why it has gained popularity with people keen on losing weight. A study published in the journal Lipids found that women with high belly fat, who consumed coconut oil while following a low- calorie diet and walk almost an hour a day lowered belly fat.
6. Compared to other oils, coconut oil is not as unhealthy as many saturated fats such as butter, meat but experts, including the World Health Organization, have warned against drinking too much coconut oil as it contains high levels of saturated fat and calories. “Recent reports have shown that coconut is good for your health. However, it still contains high amount of saturated fats. So don’t go overboard.
7. A healthy person shouldn’t take more than 6 tablespoons of oil in a day, half of which could be coconut oil. For a cardiac patient, we recommend 20 gram of oil in a day,” dietician Geetika Ahluwalia, Delhi Heart & Lung Hospital.
8. COCO FACTS Coconut oil is used for the nourishment of hair and skin It is used for the treatment of boils, sores, viral infections, abscesses It is an anti-inflammatory agent and an antioxidant A maximum of 3 tbsp of the oil should be consumed daily

There are a hundred products in the market that claim to make your skin lighter, brighter and shinier.
From soaps to creams to whitening facial kits everyone promises to make you look like the model on billboards. However, certain factors work to determine the colour of your skin. Understanding what is it that is making your skin looking sallow instead of crowding your dresser with skin-whitening products will help you.
In a country like India where every month seems like summer, tanning is inevitable. You just can’t avoid the sun and if you were born with a wheatish complexion, then it’s time you accept that about yourself. If your job involves a lot of travelling as against working in the cosy confines of an office, your skin is bound to take a beating. However with a little help from nature, you can get rid of that dull, lifeless skin.
-Do not throw away orange rinds after you are done eating the fruit. Dry the rind in the sun till it is devoid of all moisture and turns crisp. Grind it to make a fine powder. Add a little raw milk to the orange powder to make a paste. Apply this paste on your face and neck as often as possible.
-Add yoghurt and tomato juice to a teaspoon of oatmeal and apply it on your face. Oatmeal exfoliates without being harsh and tomato juice is an excellent astringent while the yoghurt leaves your skin moisturised.
-Mix a teaspoon of milk powder, one teaspoon lemon juice, half a teaspoon of honey and half a teaspoon of almond oil and apply this concoction to your face. Wash off with cold water after 10 to 15 minutes for baby soft skin.
Don’t let your age keep you from experiencing the pleasures of intimacy. Although libido may lessen as you age, here’s how to feel sexy for a lifetime.
As you grow older, it’s easy to lose that spark in the bedroom. Boredom, loss of adventurousness, physical ailments, and other problems can overcome even the healthiest of relationships over time, causing a loss of libido and creating emotional distance. But keeping intimacy alive can have profound effects on your life.
Research has shown that healthy people have better sex lives. Fit people enjoy sex more and have a lower chance of dealing with a sexual dysfunction that can impair their love life. If you’re experiencing a loss of intimacy, there are steps you can take to reclaim it. Here’s how to feel sexy again.
Intimacy Tip No. 1: Stay Healthy
To keep your libido revved for lovemaking you should:
• Exercise regularly. Your arousal depends in large part on how well blood flows through your body. Regular aerobic exercise can help keep the heart pumping and the blood flowing.
• Eat right. Maintain your health by eating a diet low in fats and sugars and high in fiber and good nutrition. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables, plenty of whole grains, and a good daily amount of low-fat dairy products. Protein should come in the form of fish, poultry, and lean meats.
• Sleep well. Good, healthy sleep gives your body the chance to refresh and recuperate.
• Stop bad habits. Alcohol and tobacco can harm sexual function and can negatively affect your overall health.
Intimacy Tip No. 2: Communicate
Partners with a satisfying sex life talk to one another; those with an unsatisfying one need to talk to one another.
• Voice your concerns. Tell your partner about changes in your body that worry you along with any other issues that bother you about your sex life.
• Describe what makes you feel good. Your partner can’t satisfy you if he doesn’t know what you desire.
• Don’t criticize. Focus on what he’s doing right, rather than pointing out the things he’s doing wrong.
• Talk at the right time. During lovemaking is the right time for discussing what you like and enjoy. Save your concerns, worries, and more negative issues for outside the bedroom.
Intimacy Tip No. 3: Improve Your Own Game
Try these ways to be a better lover:
• Think about sex. The brain is an important — some say the most important — sexual organ. Get your head in the game by thinking about your fantasies and desires more often. Write down your sexual fantasies and share them with your partner.
• Touch. Maintaining physical affection is critical to keeping a love life happy and frisky. Cuddle, hug, kiss, and hold hands often, even if you’re tired or not in the mood for sex. During lovemaking, experiment with touching your partner in ways that please and arouse him.
• Educate yourself. There are plenty of self-help books available that will give you tips on improving your sexual technique.
Intimacy Tip No. 4: Have Fun
Don’t forget that sex is supposed to be an enjoyable experience. Be sure to have fun in the bedroom (and elsewhere) by:
• Trying out different sexual positions. The tried-and-true missionary position can become stale. Experiment.
• Taking a break from intercourse. Try pleasing each other with oral sex, manual sex, massage, and caressing.
• Being inventive. Leave love notes. Plan an erotic getaway. Try making love at different times of the day. Read a love poem. Craft a scene that appeals to all five senses. Try having sex in different locations.
Most importantly, have sex and enjoy intimacy on a regular basis with your partner.

While we don’t need scientists to tell us that drinking beer is good for your health, they still do.
It cuts your risk of having strokes, heart disease, increases HDL (good cholesterol) and anti-oxidants. It’s also good for your blood - it reduces blood clots, and contains Vintamin B6 needed to make haemoglobin. You can also ease out kidney stones with beer and clean your stomach with the fiber content of malted barley - as much as 60% of daily recommended fiber in one liter. It even detoxes your liver, expanding your liver’s small blood vessels and speeds up metabolism of toxins.
Alternative Uses of Beer
coolmaterial
Heck, it even fights cancer - xanthohumol, found in beer hops helps your body break down carcinogens (chemicals that cause cancer)
However, for optimum beer nutrition, drink dark beer which has more flavanoids (natural oxidants that fight disease)
But apart from being accessory to a good a time, beer has a lot of other uses.
Alternative Uses of Beer
Setting Lotion for Hair:
Before hitting the shower, mix 3 tablespoons beer in 1/2 cup warm water. Rub this into your hair after you shampoo and rinse it off to get volume, shine and some awesome waves.
Or, you can soak your hair in beer and then soak some sunrays for all-natural highlights in your hair.
Bubble Bath
Pour in into your tub for a bubble bath that’s good for your skin and hair.
Tenderize Meat
Beer’s slightly acidic pH level lets you enjoy lean meat without ripping and gnawing - it can tenderize the meat.
It’s also better than wine- and vinegar-based marinades in not imparting too much flavor to the meat.
Insomnia
Another slightly obvious use of beer - beer’s Lactoflavin and Nicotinic Acid content promote sleep. Hops too are a natural sedative.
Stomach Ache
Beer’s fizz (carbonation) can sooth an upset stomach, and it’s also a mild sedative when the pain is too much to bear (and you don’t have a painkiller lying around)

Stop getting scared of CANCER anymore.
You can fight it back and take control of your health. Find some of the cancer-preventive lifestyle changes:
1. Avoid Fructose and Sugar
It’s quite clear that if you want to avoid cancer, or are currentlyPatients undergoing cancer treatment must avoid all forms of sugar.
Some cancer centers, such as the Cancer Centers of America, have fully embraced this knowledge and place their patients on strict low-sugar, low-grain diets. But conventional medicine in general has been woefully lax when it comes to highlighting the health dangers of this additive.
2. Optimize Vitamin D
Vitamin D deficiency plays a crucial role in cancer development. Researchers within this field have estimated that about 30 percent of cancer deaths – which amounts to 2 million worldwide and 200,000 in the United States – could be prevented each year simply by optimizing the vitamin D levels in the general population.
On a personal level, you can decrease your risks of cancer by MORE THAN HALF simply by optimizing your vitamin D levels with sun exposure. And if you are being treated for cancer it is likely that higher blood levels—probably around 80-90 ng/ml—would be beneficial.
It’s important to understand that the risk of skin cancer from the sun comes only from excessive exposure.
3. Exercise
There is sufficient compelling evidence that exercise can slash your risk of cancer. One of the primary ways exercise lowers your risk for cancer is by reducing elevated insulin levels, which creates a low sugar environment that discourages the growth and spread of cancer cells.
Women who exercise regularly may reduce their breast cancer risk by 20 to 30 percent compared to those who are inactive.
It’s important to include a large variety of techniques in your exercise routine, such as strength training, aerobics, core-building activities, and stretching.
These exercises activate your super-fast twitch muscle fibers, which can increase your body’s natural production of human growth hormone.
4. Get appropriate amounts of high quality animal-based omega-3 fats.
5. Eat according to your nutritional type.
6. Have a tool to permanently erase the neurological short-circuiting that can activate cancer genes. 85 percent of disease is caused by emotions. It is likely that this factor may be more important than all the other physical ones listed here, so make sure this is addressed. My particular favorite tool for this purpose, as you may know, is the Emotional Freedom Technique.
7. Only 25 percent of people eat enough vegetables, so by all means eat as many vegetables as you are comfortable with. Ideally, they should be fresh and organic. Cruciferous vegetables in particular have been identified as having potent anti-cancerous properties. Remember that carb nutritional types may need up to 300 percent more vegetables than protein nutritional types.
8. Maintain an ideal body weight.
9. Get appropriate amounts of high-quality sleep.
10. Reduce your exposure to environmental toxins like pesticides, household chemical cleaners, synthetic air fresheners and air pollution.
11. Reduce your use of cell phones and other wireless technologies, and implement as many safety strategies as possible if/when you cannot avoid their use.
12. Boil, poach or steam your foods, rather than frying or charbroiling them. Better yet eat as many of your foods raw as you can.

A young face has firmness in facial muscles. But with the passage of times, the skin develops wrinkles at the corner of the eyes, puffy and droopy eyelids, folds and bags below the eyes, hanging cheeks, vertical lines above the upper lips, folds in the neck and throat & double chins etc.
There is just no reason to watch helplessly as your face loses its shine and display signs of aging.
Two options are considered to help in regaining the lost younger looks. “Cosmetics or Plastic surgery”.
People have been found to spend large amounts regularly on cosmetics for keeping their looks – younger but facts are always visible.
Plastic surgery is a costly affair besides it has its own after-effects.
Facial Gymnastics is a simpler and natural way of keeping the face – younger with minimum wrinkles and tight muscles. There would be no sign of aging at any age.
Facial Gymnastics is an easier way to Facial uplift

A new natural antioxidant synthesised by tomato plants is 14 times as potent as resveratrol, the wonder compound and antioxidant in red wine, which delays ageing.
Antioxidants have beneficial health properties, such as helping to prevent coronary heart disease and cancer. Therefore, the compound could have major applications in the pharmaceutical industry.
Researchers from the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IBMCP) in Spain have identified the compound, which was completely unknown until now, reports the journal Environmental and Experimental Botany.
IBMCP researchers point out that the antioxidant is also 4.5 times more potent than vitamin E and 10 times more potent than vitamin C.
‘Many phenolic compounds are produced by plants in response to biotic or abiotic stress. These compounds have multiple effects, including antioxidant activity,’ IBMCP director Vicente Conejero said.
Biotic stress occurs as a result of damage done to plants by other living organisms, such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, parasites, beneficial and harmful insects or experimentally, according to an IBMCP statement.
This substance could have multiple applications. For example, in the food industry it could be used as a preservative in food for human consumption.
In the cosmetic industry it could be used in products for skin care, given its possible properties related to the prevention of ageing.
This powerful antioxidant would prevent changes such as fats and oils becoming rancid, which diminishes food quality extremely. It could also be used as a supplement to functional products.

Produced from the plant Camellia sinensis, green tea is basically a gift from China to the world.
India has now turned to be the most popular factory in refining the flavour of tea, and accounts for its maximum export. Scientists say that you need to sip tea at least three times a day for enjoying its benefits, which includes good blood circulation, prevention of cardiovascular diseases, lowering your blood cholesterol, minimizing the risks of cancer, and boosting the immunity system. It is basically rich in anti-oxidants which accounts for longevity too.
But other than such familiar effects, did you know that tea is highly effective on hair as well? Are you suffering from hair loss and brittle hair? Well, the- tea is probably the answer you are looking for!
Hair loss occurs for a number of reasons like:
Stress, anxiety and worries.
Prolonged illnesses like typhoid, jaundice and malaria,
Hormonal imbalance,
Infections,
Pregnancy, and
Medication.
But the two main factors which cause hair loss the most are DHT factor and loss of blood circulation to your hair follicles. Green tea can be the solution to these two problems, and if you were wondering how, here is your answer:
How can Green Tea combat against DHT factor?
Before we delved deeper into science, it would help to know what DHT factor stands for. It is an acronym for DiHydro Testosterone, which is produced by a particular enzyme (called 5Aplpha) in the body along with testosterone. This DHT then attaches itself to the hair follicles thus shrinking the size of the latter. This is sometimes aggravated by genetic reasons as well, which is why hair loss is also depended on your genetic history.
The only solution here to reduce the effects of DHT is to block it. There are some drugs in the market like Propecia that can lessen the amount of 5 Aplha in your body, but the side effects include lower libido, less semen production etc. However, green tea seems to be a natural when it comes to blocking DHT, and this all natural goalie will do so, without embarrassing you in bed. How does it work?
Since green tea is a very powerful anti-oxidant, it reduces DHT and Cholesterol in your body. It is a herbal process of fighting against the 5Alpha, thus minimizing the effects of hair follicle reduction. Since it fights against age too, it works like a marvel in strengthening hair strands.
So how does green tea promote blood circulation.
Green tea contains a certain molecule called catechin in oodles. This is helpful in acting as an anti-biotic and anti-carcinogenic. Moreover, catechin also helps in stimulating hair growth. Do you not believe it? Well, here is what Saitama Cancer Center Research Institute in Japan has to say about it:
“Animal model research studies indicate that green tea catechins have a variety of actions. Rats that were given green tea derived epicatechins showed vasorelaxation. Arteries that were induced to contract were found to relax again after administration of catechins (Huang 1998), so green tea may aid cardiovascular activity and micro capillary circulation to hair follicles.” Click here for more information.
So how can you use Green Tea to reduce Hair loss?
There are three main ways that you can follow to gain the maximum benefits of green tea:
Drink tea daily. You may even take tea capsules, but it is best to drink it. This will relax your blood vessels, thus supporting proper blood circulation which will enrich your hair follicles with more nutrition.
Massage your scalp with your fingers in a circular motion by adding the right amount of pressure. When you use any product for scalp massage, make sure it involves tea as the main ingredient.
Use shampoos containing green tea. You can even use plain tea leaves while washing your hair to cleanse your scalp perfectly. Often dirty scalps are the reason for hair loss and scalp infections.
This is a process that should last for at least 6 to 12 months if you want a long lasting effect. Moreover, even if you can’t be bothered about hair loss for being naturally endowed with great bountiful hair, you can nourish it every day with the natural moisturizer- green tea.

Awkward and shifty-eyed, Raghav Salooja reluctantly enters the room that has a generous display of percussion instruments, dodges his doctor’s gaze, half sits on a chair and begins to blankly stare at the wooden flooring. Half an hour into some peppy music, the 11-year-old makes a rare eye contact.
Welcome to the world of clinical music therapy where hundreds like Salooja are being cured of personality and other disorders through the sound of music. The therapy works on the premise that every human being responds to music.
‘We believe that every human being has an innate ability to respond to music. Every one can clap in an aarti. This ability is never impaired in any kind of illness,’ Somesh Purey, a music therapist at The Music Therapy Trust situated in south Delhi, told IANS.
The trust, accredited to have introduced the first clinical music therapy network in India, was set up by Canada-born Britain-based Margaret Lobo in 2005.
A musical talent, Lobo paralysed one of her vocal chords at the age of 20 and was told that she’d never be able to sing again.
‘For seven years, I did not make any attempt to sing. Then someone recommended a teacher and I underwent four years of training. And soon, I started singing again.
‘After that, singing was not that important. I wanted to use that training to help others. So I set up a charity in the UK,’ 70-year-old Margaret told IANS on phone from London.
An amalgamation of psychology, psychiatry, mental health and counselling sealed with music, the therapy helps cure conditions like autism, mental disorders, depression, personality issues to life-threatening diseases like HIV and cancer.
In India, music has long been revered as a great healer as some ragas are said to have therapeutic components.
Be it the soothing sound of a flute, the soulful melody of a harmonium or the brazen freshness of a guitar, music manages to calm strained nerves and lift up low-lying spirits in the toughest times.
According to Purey, there are no prescribed rules as to what music works for a particular medical condition.
‘The same piece of music can affect people differently. A person’s association and perception of a music defines what works best for him. If you have nice school memories associated with a song, it’s likely to a have a positive effect on you,’ he said.
The therapy works in two stages-assessment and re-assessment.
In the first stage, spanning 8-10 sessions, a patient’s response to music is assessed. His emotional, social, cognitive, physical and communication skills are analysed and accordingly a goal is formed for the next stage.
Purey said the first session can go extremely unpredictable. ‘Sometimes a child just runs away while another will sit and listen.’
The next stage involves either listening to live or pre-recorded music, or creating or recreating music. Each session costs Rs.500.
Hollywood, Bollywood, Western, Classical-it doesn’t matter what is played. What matters is the music’s tempo, volume and texture.
‘If someone is depressed and we play Tambura, he will get more depressed. The need is to play some peppy energetic music. Fast beats and loud sound have an uplifting energy. In wars, Nagada (kettle drums played with sticks) used to be played to motivate and alert the mind.
‘In spas, slow music with medium tempo is played as the idea is to relax. Every sound works in its own way to reach us,’ said Purey, who works with children suffering from Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and self-esteem issues.
Wind instruments like flute are considered to be more soothing. String instruments have an aesthetic tonal quality while metal sound can energise as well as irritate.
Though the trust also deals with terminally ill people suffering from stage five cancer, Purey admitted that the therapy is not a guarantee to curing disease.
‘It’s not instant coffee, it’s not the promise of 100 percent results but it contributes to overall development of the client,’ he added.
The trust associates with NGOs working for slum kids, schools, corporates, besides providing a part-time two-year diploma course in clinical music therapy.
Lucanne Magill, a qualified music therapist from the US, is the course tutor.
When asked what are the qualities required in a good therapist, she said: ‘Compassion, desire and love to work with people, some life experiences that help them to be able to adapt in challenging situations, ability to listen and has to be musically trained.’

With all of the candy-coating many of these “Work At Home” products receive, I thought it would be high-time to take a no-nonsense allowed approach to one of the most popular programs: The Woman’s Wealth System.
Creator Concetta Bibens found great success with Clickbank, and now she is revealing the same plan which made her over a MILLION dollars last year.
That’s pretty impressive, but she is doing a bit more than just selling an eBook. She’s actually including review sites and list-building sites, hosted for FREE for as long as they are in business!
That means she is essentially offering a proven, MILLION DOLLAR BUSINESS PLAN, along with the tools you need to short-cut your way to success.
I’ll be honest with you, this sounded too good to be true, so I decided to dig a bit deeper.
What I found was shocking…
It’s actually WAY BETTER than what they tell you on their sales page!
Each step of their complete money-making plan has been boiled down into full videos for you to follow along with.
The money-making, list-building sites - at your option you can choose to have brand new ones given to you each and every single month, and you’ll even get weekly, or even DAILY updates to really boost your results!
As for the downsides of this program, if you’re already making $8,000 a week, you probably won’t find “Woman’s Wealth System” all that impressive. It’s really designed for folks who want to move from nothing a month to over $5,000 a week fairly quickly - but if you’re already making more than that then you’re too advanced for this program.
But if not, then you should GRAB A COPY right away by clicking the link, while it’s still available. Opportunity rarely knocks twice, and something this good won’t be around forever!
For centuries, many herbs have been claimed to boost people’s sex drive. Add one more to the list — fenugreek, a bean-like plant which grows in India and other Asian countries, and used in curries, say researchers. In fact, India is said to be the largest producer of fenugreek herb in the world wit
h Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab being the major producing states.
A new study by the Centre for Integrative Clinical and Molecular Medicine in Brisbane has found that fenugreek, used in curries, can spice up men’s sex life by boosting male libidos to a good extent.
Fenugreek seeds contain compounds called saponins and it is thought these stimulate male sex hormones including testosterone, say the researchers.

For minor ailments and illness you can use natural herbal remedies without running to the doctor for drugs that contain chemicals, which might cause other side effects. These herbal remedies are generally mild, and thus work best at the initial stages of illness. However if the illness is serious then it is always best to consult a doctor for diagnosis and treatment. Below listed are a few common ailments and their natural herbal cure.
INDIGESTION
For indigestion ginger tea is the best remedy. Boil your tea with a thumbnail piece of ginger. Add sugar or honey for taste. Drink this tea 3 times a day to soothe the upset organ. You can also try one teaspoon of baking soda dissolved in water.
NAUSEA
For nausea, try lemon-lime soda. Make sure it’s not icy cold; room temperature is better as it won’t startle your stomach into cramping.
COLD
If you have a cold, cook a vegetable soup to boost your immune system. Boil lightly a colourful range of different vegetables with garlic and a teaspoon of black pepper. Toss in a couple of tomatoes for a good measure of Vitamin C. The vegetables provide multi-vitamins and minerals to boost your immune system to fight the cold. Garlic has anti-bacterial properties and helps to fight germs and viruses. Black pepper has chemicals to affect your body’s metabolism, which will in turn boost the immune system.
COUGH
For a good homemade cough syrup, mix a tablespoon of honey with a quarter cup of lemon juice and a quarter cup of warm water. Adults may also try adding a tablespoon of brandy or whiskey. This is not particularly tasty but it is effective.
SORE THROAT
Sooth a sore throat by gargling with one teaspoon of salt mixed in a small amount of warm water. Do not swallow. Repeat as often as necessary.
CUTS
Fresh, unprocessed honey contains vitamins, minerals, and enzymes. This is a powerful healer for cuts because the nutrients act directly on the wound, speeding up the recovery of cells. Honey also absorbs water when it is applied on the skin. A skin without moisture is not conducive to bacterial growth. Honey is not an antiseptic but acts like one in its action to inhibit bacterial growth.
THIRST
Cucumbers and coconut juice are “coolers” because they remove metabolic heat generated in the body. They are excellent thirst quenchers for the parched throat, dry body, or feverish body. They work twice as effectively as plain water alone and do not give you the bloated feeling of drinking too much water
INSOMNIA
Insomnia is a common sleeping disorder that may affect people of all ages. Even children may experience difficulty in falling to sleep from time to time. A hot, milky beverage will usually lull you to sleep. Lavender in its dried form or essential oil form is commonly used in aromatherapy to help insomnia sufferers. A few whiffs of the herb send you to dreamland. It is harmless enough for use with children and babies in the same room. There are also sedative teas like chamomile tea, which relaxes your body to induce sleep.
HEADACHE
Stave off a migraine headache by drinking a high-caffeine beverage as soon as you feel it coming on. Take one aspirin and lie down in a dark room. A cool cloth across the forehead can be soothing as well. A tension headache can be eased with a hot shower, massaging the affected area, or even by brushing your hair.

2 tsp. curd
1 tsp. mashed cucumber
3-4 tsp. oatmeal powder
3 crushed mint leaves.

Arti Shah, a top distributor at Tupperware, has not let cancer affect her will to work…
Arti got married at an early age, and was two months pregnant when she went to collect her plus-two certificate from school. She continued as a homemaker. In 1999, her husband Kumar’s sheet metal fabrication business took a downturn. ‘People told us to cut down our expenses, stop spending on higher education for our two daughters.
Some even suggested I cook and sell tiffins to offices’ It was heartbreaking to think that the tough times would blight her daughters’ futures. Dhara was in high school, and Priyanka was in Class XII and wanted to do engineering. ‘How could we think of taking them out of school? The only solution was to get in an alternate source of income. That is when my relationship with Tupperware began,’ she says. Arti went on to do record sales in her business.
‘From those days, I remember three names without whom our lives would be very different. Three names whose favours I don’t want to return because I want to remember them with gratitude always. Usha Shah, my sister-in-law, who introduced me to the company; who lent me money when I had none to get my kit; and for constantly encouraging me.
Geetubhai Parekh, a sterling gentleman. He stood by us, gave me contacts to sell the products to, and money to settle the business. The company itself - it brought me money, friends, confidence and hope in my life. I could bring up my daughters the way I wanted to.’
The shock of discovery, and the pain of despair
Last year, when she was in Kochi on a business trip, the wall-to-wall mirror at the hotel reflected Arti’s first frown of anxiety. She had just noticed a lump on her right breast. She called Kumar back in Aurangabad, ‘I have noticed a lump. What if’
‘Don’t worry, it’s not cancer,’ he said. ‘Just get a good night’s sleep, finish the conference and come home.’ On January 13, Arti felt nauseous on her way back from another business trip. And after a mammography, a visit to the gynae and a biopsy, she was looking at a report that said “malignant". Arti had breast cancer.
It was 25 January, 2011. ‘I knew there was something wrong when my daughter, with the report in hand, instead to rushing to say all is well, went straight to the doctor. Those 10 minutes of waiting to know were terrible. And Kumar was not even in town that day. My mother and daughter were there with me in the consultation room, when the doctor confirmed I had cancer. We were three generations of Shah women. We cried.’
‘Your attitude can make you 100 percent positive or 100 percent negative. For me, the latter has never been an option’
Surgery, and losing hair, but winning the war
‘Kumar and I went for a consultation the next day. By this time I had visited my puja room endless times. I spoke with God and I told him, “Well, you have the remote control of my life in your hands. Since you’ve chosen to give this disease to me, you will just have to hold my hand and help me fight it."‘
At the doctor’s, Arti got the good news that a cure was possible. ‘I had to choose between keeping the breast or surgically getting it removed while undergoing treatment. Since there was a five percent chance of the cancer recurring if I kept the breast, I opted for surgery. My right breast and lymph nodes were removed in February this year.’ Says Arti, ‘I refuse to think of myself as a cancer patient.
Cancer is just one of those things that knocks you in the face like so many other difficulties. There is no question of letting it drag me down. I’ve cried my heart out three times over it already. It’s time for action,’ she says. Arti has taken three chemo sessions so far. After the first one, she lost her hair within 15 days.
‘I prepared myself by this reasoning: when two strong opponents fight, they pull each other’s hair out in their tussle to win. Right now, cancer is my opponent. I don’t mind losing hair in my battle against it because ultimately, I will win, and I know my hair will grow back.’ She didn’t inform her colleagues about her illness and tried her best to let the business move on as usual, with her younger daughter Dhara’s help (who’s Tupperware’s youngest executive).
Attitude is everything; your troubles can melt away
‘I have great faith in Ganpati Bappa. We are Jains, and while we have our deities, I feel particularly close to him. I speak with him like I did with my father. Like a friend, a daughter. I know he’s around me,’ she says. When she gets back to work after a chemo session, people ask where she gets the strength from.
‘I tell them that half the pain is shared by my god. He’s there with me all the time, especially those 12 excruciating chemo hours.’ She does feel ill. ‘I have ulcers in the mouth, so talking (which I love to do and is the mainstay of sales!) is sometimes tough as is eating solid food. I am on a liquid diet nowadays.
I wear a wig when I go to conferences (she’s just back from one in Beijing and another one in Macau). The plug in uses Facebook’s Like and Share buttons to increase traffic to websites. It does so by gently proposing to visitors to click on the Like or Share button to continue browsing the website or else wait a few pre-defined seconds. In a few cases (10%-30%), the users that came to the website will be glad to promote the website to their friends by pressing the button and thereby increasing the website’s traffic exponentially.
Having the Like and Share buttons at articles head or bottom as most websites do today, works in many cases. But, the i Like viral plug-in will multiply this usage with guaranteed results of increased traffic.

A new study has suggested that running in reverse could make you fitter than running forward.
Despite its fashionable status, reverse running is not new. It emerged as an activity in its own right in the 1970s, when sports doctors began recommending it to injured athletes.
Physiotherapists approve of it because running backwards reduces impact on the joints. It’s often recommended for rehabilitation from knee and back problems.
Overall, many experts say, it is a more efficient way of a fast-forward route to fitness, reports the Daily Mail.
The study at South Africa’s Stellenbosch University showed that the technique improved cardiovascular fitness. Researchers looked at the effects of a six-week, thrice-weekly backward-running programme on female students compared with a group who stuck to their regular activity schedule.
At the end of the study, the reverse runners were found to have significant decreases in oxygen consumption, meaning they had become aerobically fitter, and had lost an average 2.5 per cent body fat.
James Bamber, organiser of the UK’s backward races, says there are other subtle advantages. “Because you land and push off from the forefoot, your big toes are strengthened, which aids good posture.”
“It improves co-ordination and has been proven to help cognitive functioning and reaction speed as a result.”
Bamber says that running one lap of an athletics track backwards provides the fitness equivalent of running six laps forwards and that 100 steps in reverse produces the same benefits as 1,000 steps straight ahead.

Here are 5 great exercises that you can do at home, without the need for any equipment:
Push-ups
This is one of the most useful exercises that can be easily done at home. If done correctly it can rev up your stamina and build your pecs and triceps.
How to do it: Lie face down with your palms on the floor about shoulder width apart from each other. Push your whole body up with your back and legs in a straight line and then lower yourself back down towards the floor. To strengthen your chest more place your arms wider apart. To strengthen your triceps and back more, move your arms closer together.
Muscles involved: Chest muscles and triceps
Sit-ups
This is another great exercise to do in the house and can be done almost everywhere. This can help in the strengthening of the hip flexors and abdominal muscles.
How to do it: Lie on your back with your knees bent and feet flat on the floor. Cross your arms across your chest and raise your body up to try and meet your knees. This can cause strain on the back, so if you have a weak back it may be better to do a crunch instead.

Medical providers are promoting their services as the best and cheapest but the important question is to chose the right hospital which suits your needs.
You may consider the following factors for your best decision:
1. Experience: If you need a heart bypass, then find a hospital that specializes in this procedure. Ask how many heart bypasses they perform each year, and their complication and mortality rates. Avoid facilities with a procedure which has lower level of volume. The experience of the hospital and surgeon is key to a successful procedure and therefore should be your number one priority.
2. Accreditation: Look for a facility that is accredited by a reputable organization such as the Joint Commission International. Although accreditation is not a guarantee that you will have a perfect procedure outcome, the higher the procedural standards and accountability mechanisms that are in place, the better your odds for a successful procedure.
3. Value: Look carefully at the total cost of your procedure package including travel costs. If a price seems too good to be true, and then make sure you request a written list of what the package includes. Be especially vigilant with regards to rehabilitation therapy (in the case of many orthopaedic procedures), pre-operative exams, medication, transportation, and lodging. Any one of these elements can significantly increase the cost of your procedure. You must also be aware that you will be responsible for medical complications should they occur. If you are undergoing a high-risk procedure then it would be advisable to purchase complication insurance which is now available through a company called Seven Corners (http://www.sevencorners.com/travelers/?utm_id=O8N2FPTU).
4. Location: Medical tourism offers you the possibility to visit exotic locations all around the world. Remember, however, that you are travelling for medical reasons. If you are undergoing a surgical procedure, then distance should be a factor in your decision. You may receive an attractive quote from a great hospital but find you need to travel 24 hours on a plane to get there. In cases such as these it may be worthwhile to choose a location that is a little closer to home in order to save time and money (not to mention discomfort) on the flight.
Use the above four elements as a guide for weighing the pros and cons of the various hospitals and destinations you are considering. Then create a “short list” of your top picks. You may also want to enlist the help of a “medical tourism facilitator”. These are companies that will do much of the work for you. They have relationships with hospitals and doctors and have the know-how to quickly arrange every detail of your medical trip.

There can be plenty of reasons for you to stay awake late in the night - favourite Hollywood movie on TV, gaming, soccer matches, office work etc. Many people complain of hunger-pangs during this time even if they’ve had a generous dinner. Here are top 10 healthy midnight snacks to choose from, thereby, staying away from harmful junk food at night.
Here’s some information about the top 10 healthy midnight snacks to keep you going through the night.
1. Fruits. The best snack for any occasion. They are easy to eat and provide nutrients to keep you going. Forget fat when you’re gorging on them. To add some spice, sprinkle little spices on fruits and then enjoy them. You can prepare a fruit platter in advance if you plan to stay awake late in the night.
2. Veggies. You may frown that we are recommending this to you, but veggies make for a great late-night noshing for many diet-friendly reasons. They are a storehouse of vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients that can be used by your body for overnight healing and nourishment. You can prepare a vegetable platter in advance if you plan to stay awake late in the night.
3. Popcorn. If your midnight cravings demand something salty, then popcorn would be the ideal snack. Not only it is a good source of complex carbs, it also contains less calories. (of course, you have to refrain from dousing the kernels in butter). It takes just a few minutes to prepare them. What’s more, you can easily eat them with one hand if you’re gaming.
4. Nuts. Rich in antioxidants, nuts are great night time snacks. You need protein to stay awake anyway, which nuts have in droves. While gaming, they can be easily tossed into the mount. Most are not so greasy that your equipment will suffer, and nuts are healthy, unless you eat an entire can. Since nuts contain a lot of fibers, you will feel quite fuller when you get up in the morning. Nuts also help in regulating blood sugar.
5. Salsa. Salsa is easy to make fresh - or buy - and offers tasty nutrition with the right ingredients. Be adventurous; try some that combine sweet fruits and hot chilies. Salsa contains no fat. But if you decide to have it with chips, then we can’t really help. If you enjoy it with nachos, make sure you do not eat too many of them.
6. Milk. Low in calories and fat (not talking about the full-cream milk, of course), milk contains tryptophan, an amino acid which is capable of lulling you into a deep sleep. Actually, tryptophan helps produce serotonin which helps us feel sleepy. Along with this, you get calcium and vitamin D as bonuses.
7. Whole Grains. Like milk, foods loaded with carbs boost the levels of tryptophan in the body. Grains like oat, barley and millet are the best choices. Studies suggest that consumption of whole grains reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases and type II diabetes.
8. Water. Please don’t hate us for this but yes, water can serve as a healthy midnight snack. What you think of as a pang of hunger is often thirst. So before you devour savouries and treats to kill your “false hunger”, try hydrating yourself with water. You can flavour it with lime juice if you want.
9. Juices. If you want to save yourself the trouble of cutting fruits then go for juices. 100% fruit juice is a nutrient-dense beverage that has almost all the benefits one can get from consuming whole fruits. Don’t consume juices in excess as many of them contain good quantities of fructose sugar which is not good for your health.
10. Cottage Cheese. Learn to relish raw cottage as much as you relish Shahi Paneer. A half cup of 2% cottage cheese contains 16 gm of proteins but has only 102 calories and two gm of fat. This is in stark contrast with other types of cheese which can be oozing with fat. You can either mix it with fruits or just enjoy it after sprinkling some chat masala on it

Sedentary life style and stressful life has increased the number of patients who suffer from different ailments which need immediate attention and proper care. But expensive procedures & treatments scare the patients. Besides there is a long waiting period for most of the procedures.
Alternative destinations which could assure world class medical care at a shorter waiting time would surely draw everybody’s attention. If the expenses are reduced by 40-50 percent, then patients from US, UK, Middle East and Japan would positively consider it to save on their medical expenses.
A coronary artery bypass at Thailand’s Bumrungrad Hospital costs around one-tenth of what it does in the United States. Even more mundane procedures such as extreme dental work can be a fraction of the cost in countries such as Thailand.
Insurance is another factor in the decision to choose a foreign country for a medical procedure. Some orthopaedic operations, especially knee and hip replacements, are often not covered by health insurance. As a result, orthopaedic surgery has emerged as one of the main treatments performed overseas due to the low cost and freedom to choose where to have the surgery performed.
People who cannot afford health insurance simply have no choice but to travel abroad for an expensive medical procedure. With an estimated 45 million Americans currently uninsured, this creates a huge market for people needing affordable healthcare.
A final benefit is the pleasure of adding some travel and adventure to your medical needs. For many medical tourists, a trip to Thailand or India will be a first. A big component of the medical tourism industry is the relaxing vacation period following the medical procedure. Medical tourism destinations promote this aspect just as much as the quality and cost of their healthcare.
In Thailand, patients can lounge on one of the country’s many beautiful beaches during their recovery, while India offers some amazing spa resorts where luxury and pampering is the focus. Up-and-coming South Africa even promotes wildlife safaris as part of its medical tourism packages.

Obese people find it the hardest to deal with the fat stored in and around the abdomen and the waist.
Not only does belly fat make your abdomen bulge out, it also poses grave risk to of diseases like hypertension, diabetes and stroke. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), men who have a waist more than 40 inches have heightened risk of heart diseases and diabetes.
The most common reasons for the accumulation of fat in the tummy are hormonal imbalance, excessive eating, intake of large quantities of alcohol, sweets and chocolates and lack of exercise. Stress is also one of the prominent reasons for the storage of fat in the belly. Stress triggers the secretion of a hormone called cortisol. Excess of cortisol stimulates the storage of fat around the waist. Then there’s another factor of improper digestion. Due to malfunctioned digestion gastro-problems arise and this leads to a persistently puffy belly. As we add years, our efficiency of burning calories goes down, so sluggish metabolism also sets off the buildup of fat around the midsection.
If belly fat is one of your problems and you still thrive on a typical diet full of oily, starchy foods and carbs, it’s time for you to treat this article as a wake-up call. You would need to change your diet drastically. First of all, you should avoid eating two to three hours before bedtime to control the belly fat. At the same time, incorporate foods which can help you overcome the problem.
Here’s some information on foods which you should consume if you have a bloated belly.
Eggs: They provide good quality protein which in turn helps overcome hunger pangs.
Beans: Beans like black gram (chana), green gram (chana), chick peas and green moong bustle with fibre and proteins. They help you shed pounds and improve muscle tone.
Oat Meal: Befriend the good ol’ oats if you’re battling belly fat. Start your day with oats cooked in water or consume them with milk. They’re high in soluble fibre and low in fat.
Vegetables: Green vegetables are rich source of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and fibre. Consuming vegetables for dinner without chapatis and/or rice is helpful in shrinking the waist size. What’s more, most green veggies have only 30-60 calories per 100 grams.
Barley: Barley has a considerably low glycemic index and contains lots of soluble fibre. This helps in diminishing the circumference of the waist. Regular consumption cuts down the risk of cardiac diseases and type II diabetes.
Green Tea: Polyphenols present in the tea help boost metabolism. Green tea is less processed and contains higher levels of anti-oxidants. It greatly suppresses the appetite.
Milk: When we say milk, we’re not recommending full-cream milk. In fact, make sure you stay away from that. Go for non-fat milk which has the same amount of calcium and protein as full-cream milk but contains less sodium and helps prevent water retention. This reduces bloating.
Yogurt: It’s oozing with calcium and protein and has very less calories (80 calories in a cup of low-fat yogurt). The beneficial bacteria present in yogurt boost immunity and aid bowel movement.
Tomatoes: The luscious red tomatoes contain only 20 caloriesper hundred gram. They are rich in fibres, lycopene and potassium. They avert water retention, thereby also preventing bloating of the belly.
Olive Oil: People realise that veggies are good for health but many find their taste boring. Add a small quantity of olive oil. This will improve the flavour of vegetables and make them tastier. But its real benefit is that it can help you lose the hateful flab around your belly.

Some people live with excruciating joint pains that don’t go despite treatment. They consider these pains as a part of growing up. However, with the right kind of medicine these pains can be totally eliminated.
Some of the simple remedies which can be followed:
a) Take the juice of a ginger. Crush some vidanga (Embelia ribes, False Black Pepper) to a fine powder with some rock salt. Mix all of these and take them in quantities of three grams each time with honey. Lick on this thrice a day.
b) Massage the paining joints with the oil extracted from the seeds of the Bishop’s weed. Warm the oil a little before massaging. A similar kind of relief is obtained by massaging with the oil of neem (Azadirachta indica, Indian Margosa).
c) In case of joint pains due to cold weather, add a fistful of Bishop’s weed seeds and one teaspoon of salt in two cups of water and boil it. Keep a sieve on this, and then keep a cloth on the sieve. The cloth will get moistened with the warm fumes of the solution. Use this cloth to foment the painful joints. This will remove the pains.
d) Some joint pains are felt more acutely in the knees, fingers and shoulders when lifting some heavy weight. These are very persistent pains in most cases, and they do not dissipate despite treatments. In such pains, tomatoes are the best solutions due to their rich vitamin C content. Eat four to five raw tomatoes in a day, and eat one bowlful of thick tomato soup twice a day – in the morning and the evening. This provides great relief within a fortnight of continued use.
e) If there are sharp and sudden joint pains in any part of the body, then grind an amalaki (Emblica officinalis, Indian Gooseberry) in water that is a little warm. Then add a slightly crushed piece of cardamom in the water. Drink this concoction once a day. This will retain the zest and vigor of the body and also prevent all the inexplicable pains that arise suddenly in different parts of the body.
f) Take a petal of the yellow oleander flower, known as kaner in Hindi, and grind it to a paste in groundnut oil. Apply this paste regularly on the regions where the joint pains arise. Continuous use will totally eliminate the pains.
g) You can also grind some cloves of garlic and apply the paste on the affected joints. This will remove the pains in a short while. But the problem with this remedy is that the garlic paste needs to be washed off within a few minutes, or it will lead to boils on the skin.
h) Prepare a paste of mustard seeds with a little water. Apply this oily paste onto the affected joints. The pains will be eliminated in a short while.
i) This is a regimen that will take care of joint pains, but it takes some patience. Every morning after waking up, eat castor seeds in the following manner. On the first day of the routine, eat one peeled castor seed, on the second day two and so on keep increasing the number by one till the seventh day. From the eighth day onwards, begin reducing the number of castor seeds by one. Do this till the number comes down to one. The joint pains will vanish by then.
j) Cook some seeds of Bishop’s weed in water. Let the water boil and the fumes come out. Bring your affected joints in contact with the fumes. This will make the joint pains disappear
k) Put some bitter oil in a pan. Add some seeds of the Bishop’s weed and some cloves of garlic. Use this oil to massage deep into the regions where you get frequent joint pains. This remedy has the potency to remove any kind of joint pains if done diligently.
l) Crush two cloves of garlic and add them to some sesame oil. Warm the oil and massage it deep into the paining joints. You will find immense benefits from this therapy.
m) If the pains are not that severe, then a simple steam fomentation with a cloth will also help. The cloth must be moistened with the vapors and then pressed deep into the affected areas. Fomentation must be done for at least twenty minutes a day, and preferably at dusk.
n) Prepare a brew of ginger juice in castor oil. Take no more than 10 milliliters of castor oil and a teaspoonful of the juice of ginger. Drink this twice a day – at dawn and at dusk – on an empty stomach.

Herbs prescribed in various potencies are galangal, garlic, guggul and punarnava. Dashamoolarishta is the preparation most commonly prescribed, and treatment is generally carried on for three weeks.
Angelina Jolie has natural-looking lips. To achieve this look, follow the directions below, and most importantly, have fun!
1. Exfoliate your lips with a warm, wet wash cloth by wiping back and forth gently or use a lip scrub (try “the lip scrub"). Be careful not to overdo it - you don’t want your lips to become so irritated it’s counterproductive. Be gentle, you don’t want to burn yourself or irritate your skin.
2. Apply a good lip plumper (the most recent in lip enhancing technology). There are a few good brands that will literally plump up, smooth out and moisten your lips. For a natural alternative, cayenne pepper or salt can be used - but these can be irritating and drying to the lips. Apply a very small amount of the powder across the lips, and top with your favorite lip gloss. The cayenne will plump and colour the lips by making the blood flow increase (the same action the lip plumper create), and the gloss will provide shine and moisture.
3. Line and fill in your lips with a light brown or nude lip liner pencil (match your skin tone as closely as you can).
4. Apply a matte flesh-toned lipstick.
5. Blot the lipstick by gently pressing your lips closed with a tissue in-between them.
TIPS
• Alternatively, some lip glosses (like Lip Venom) use ginger and cinnamon to increase circulation in your lips to create fuller “bee-stung” looking lips. The cost of this beauty might be a slight burning feeling in your lips. However there is danger of an allergic reaction, so don’t lick your lips or your throat may swell up which is extremely dangerous.
• Reduce shine and make your lipstick last longer by adding an ever-so-thin layer of baby powder with a brush.
• If the look is a bit harsh for your taste, try adding some shine with clear gloss.
• Make-up artists like this trick, too. Add dimension by taking a liner about 2 shades darker than the lipstick and drawing in a “shadow line” under the middle of the bottom lip. This can be very tricky to master, so make sure you practice before you wear it out. Study pictures of celebrities who have similar lip shapes to your own and try to copy the shadow line found on them.
• Another way to make your lips appear fuller is to use a dark lip liner. Make your mouth into an “O” and apply to the corners of your mouth. Blend up and down with your finger.
• Try to constantly use a lip gloss that has peppermint, spearmint, or cinnamon in it, preferably Mentha shine from Bath and Body Works.
• Using medicated lip balms, such as Carmex is great for keeping your lips soft and beautiful. Also, they’re more receptive to treatments, such as plumping and infused lip glosses.
• If you have full lips, don’t use lip plumper.
• Lip plumpers only last for a given time (depends on brand). For more long term results, be sure to buy one that includes peptides that stimulate your own body into making more collagen. Take note and find out exactly what active ingredient is in your lip plumper so you can make an educated purchase decision.
WARNINGS
• Do not get so focused on your lips that you lose sight of how beautiful the rest of your face is.
• Nature usually shapes the lips to fit in with the other features on the face. The correct balance is much better than something completely out of proportion.
• Also do not forget that this ‘bee stung’ type look is just a fashion statement. Next year tiny lips, (which are cute) could be all the rage!
• If you do want to try the lipstick type so-called plumpers, read the online reviews, particularly the unbiased ones. It seems most of them do not work.
• A better attitude, a different style of clothing, or a different hair color might be a lot more important than attempting to mimic Hollywood’s current favorite lips.
• Be yourself. It is important that you do not get obsessed with getting someone else’s features. It is alright to enhance your looks and feel more attractive, but stay true to who you are and do not get obsessed over it.
• If a lipstick plumper hurts your lips it most likely has a chemical you are allergic to in it. Go for a higher up brand.
• If you’re putting on makeup, focus either your lips or your eyes, never both; it can look clownish.

The human body is 90% water at birth. The water content in the body of a grown-up person decreases to 70%. The water content drops to 50% with age.
- Water regulates the temperature of the body, it humidifies the air we breathe, it helps organs assimilate the nutrients and expel the toxins and excess salts. Water helps keep the blood pressure down, thus reducing the probability of a heart attack. The above “job description” for the water is not by any means complete. It’s just amazing that water can help you when you’re down in the mouth. Water can wash away the negative energy that builds up in your system during the day. That’s why I strongly recommend that you go to a swimming pool regularly, and take a shower right after you come home from work. Take a hot bath before going to bed. You’d better form a habit of showering every time you have a headache or one of those days.
I’m sure water can help you out.
- The body of a healthy individual can use up to 2-3 liters a day. This amount should be replenished, otherwise digestion and blood formation will be disrupted. You should drink at least 2 liters more if temperatures rise outside. Those who are engaged in sports, undergo treatment, or take vitamins should increase their daily intake of water. By the way, you shouldn’t drink water in a large swallow. Drink it slowly, pause for several seconds before swallowing.
How can you tell that your body isn’t getting enough water?
- During dehydration the skin gets dry, a person grows tired quicker than usual and finds it hard to concentrate. Other signs include headache, constipation, hypertension, allergic reactions, the kidneys don’t work well. The symptoms of a lack of water also include a recurrent infection of the genitourinary system, dry cough, pain in the back and joints.
Can you replenish the loss of water by drinking lots of soda pop or juice?
- Juice contains vitamins and calories, it’s rather a kind of food. Juice can’t be considered when it comes to water supply of the body. Therefore, you shouldn’t drink fruit juices to excess. The large amount of distilled water is bad for your health too because both bacteria and beneficial microelements have been removed from it. Distilled water is aggressive water. It has an increased solvent action. Drinking distilled water for a long time will result in the loss of mineral salts and cause damage to cardiovascular and bone system of your body. You’d better drink ordinary water.
Most Russians are unhappy about the taste and smell of tap water these days.
- No doubt about it, today’s tap water flowing through the municipal water supply system leaves much to be desired. It contains dissolved iron and manganese, calcium salts and magnesium that lead to wear and tear of the plumbing equipment and bathroom accessories. The water does damage to the human body too. On the one hand, chlorine (added in water) kills most dangerous microbes. On the other hand, it is one of the causes of atherosclerosis. Besides, chlorine forms carcinogenic substances when it mixes with organic matter present in water. By the bye, it is very difficult to determine the quality of water by looking at a water sample with the naked eye. The majority of harmful impurities are odourless and taste-free.

Brisk walking seems to benefit patients with prostate cancer in early stages, says a new study based on a survey of 1,455 US men diagnosed with the condition.
Scientists from the University of California and the Harvard School of Public Health, found that men who walked briskly, for at least three hours every week after diagnosis, were nearly 60 percent less likely to require a second bout of treatment.
‘The important point was the intensity of the activity - the walking had to be brisk for men to experience a benefit,’ said study co-author Erin Richman, postdoctoral fellow at the University of California, San Francisco, reports the journal Cancer Research.
The new study complements an earlier Harvard finding that physical activity post diagnosis could reduce disease-related mortality in a distinct population of men with prostate cancer, according to a California statement.
After skin cancer, prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed type of cancer among men in the US, and more than 217,000 US men are diagnosed with the disease every year, according to the National Cancer Institute.
Vigorous exercise and brisk walking have been consistently shown to have significant benefits on cardiovascular health, diabetes and many other diseases.

The power wheelchair has gone through a huge amount of change since wheelchairs have been invented. They now offer people who have to use them the ability to roll much more smoothly, be more comfortable to sit in, and a much greater range of mobility and accessibility to buildings and other places that were previously unavailable to those with a handicap.
One of the biggest complaints from people with a handicap that prevents them from walking is that they can’t get around very easily by themselves. It’s easy to imagine why this would come as a very large hindrance to these people. By not being able to move about themselves, leading a normal life is impossible for them. But if they have one of these electrically powered wheelchairs, this problem is all but solved.
Not only can people in wheelchairs push themselves, but people who are in wheelchairs that are unable to push themselves can still get around by themselves in a different way. Actually, they get around in a different type of wheelchair. These wheelchairs have electrically powered motors attached to the wheels that can be controlled by the person sitting in the chair.
These strides have been made due to a few major factors. One of the biggest is the improvements made in battery technology. Because battery technology has advanced so much in recent years, it is now possible to have rechargeable batteries to power these wheelchairs. And not only that, but the batteries can now last for much, much longer than the previously could. This allows the wheelchair to be used for an entire day without needing to be recharged.
There are even some of these wheelchairs that can be controlled by a person’s mouth. And believe it or not, there exists a version that can climb stairs as well. Transportation and access is no longer a problem for anyone with limited or no use of their legs if they have one of these.
Newer wheelchairs are so much more advanced than their older counterparts that they barely even resemble each other. The power wheelchair is even more distinct than are traditional wheelchairs since they have motors, batteries, and controls as well.

While flute maestro Hariprasad Chaurasia is undoubtedly the most admired Indian musician in Israel, it turns out that many Israeli women have relied on the soothing effect of his music to take them through testing times - pregnancy and labour pain.
“I have special yoga classes for pregnant women once a week and I always use Chaurasiaji’s music during these lessons. Most of the women develop a liking for it and have told me that his CDs were the first thing they put in their labour pack, while arranging the essentials", Tamar Bental, an India enthusiast and a Jerusalem based yoga teacher told agencies.
Hari Prasad Chaurasia
“I am a big fan of his and listening to his music makes my conviction stronger in the ability of arts to heal mind. I have been to all his four performances in Jerusalem", Bental added. An Israeli woman, Boggie, with a year and seven month old daughter, Eden, confirms this by saying that Chaurasia’s music was a big help in keeping her calm during a very prolonged contraction period in the labour room.
“I believe his music saw me through those difficult hours. I had instructed the staff to play his CD again and again. Though i do not have much exposure to India, I am hooked to his music", she said. Yet another Israeli woman, Anat, appreciated the “balming effect” of Chaurasia’s music which see feels can relieve one of all stress.
“I listened to his music all through my pregnancy. I was so certain about what music to carry with me to the Labour room. I took all the four CD’s of Hariprasad that i have in the house and nothing else", she said adding, “my daughter would certainly have developed a liking for it having heard it hundreds of times before facing the real world".
The maestro when posed with the question is a little surprised. “Bansuri is connected to nature in the true sense. It has no wires, no strings. It is possible that being a thing of the nature, it brings certain miraculous powers. After all it is also the instrument of Lord Krishna", he told.
Clearly the most popular Indian musician here, Chaurasia’s fourth performance in Jerusalem last Thursday was a much awaited event which drew his fans from all over the country.
The performance in front of a capacity crowd in Jerusalem Theatre’s biggest auditorium kicked off the musical segment, “On the wings of the Raga", of the three week long Indian festival to commemorate twenty years of Indo-Israel diplomatic ties.

Want to get fitter? Start jogging backwards. It may sound awkward, but experts claim it protects the joints and burns more calories.
According to them, running backwards reduces impact on the joints and helps cope with knee and back problems. Overall it is a more efficient way of moving - in fact a fast-forward route to fitness.
jogging backwards
A study at the University of Oregon has suggested that reverse runners need to move at only 80 per cent of the speed of forward runners to gain the same physiological and fitness benefits.
Another study at Stellenbosch University in South Africa has shown that the technique can improve cardiovascular fitness, the Daily Mail reported.
For this study, researchers looked at the effects of a six-week, thrice-weekly backward-running programme on female students compared with a group who stuck to their regular activity schedule.
At the end of the study, the reverse runners were found to have significant decreases in oxygen consumption, meaning they had become aerobically fitter, and had lost an average 2.5 per cent body fat.
James Bamber, organiser of the UK’s backward races, says there are other subtle advantages. “Because you land and push off from the forefoot, your big toes are strengthened, which aids good posture.
“It improves co-ordination and has been proven to help cognitive functioning and reaction speed as a result,” he was quoted as saying.
Bamber says that running one lap of an athletics track backwards provides the fitness equivalent of running six laps forwards and that 100 steps in reverse produces the same benefits as 1,000 steps straight ahead.

Stem Cell research, and its astounding potential, has been called one of the most important medical breakthroughs in decades. In 1989, cord blood banking was created for the purpose of collecting and storing this invaluable resource.
Why to Save Cord Blood?
1. Cord Blood Banking is a Once-In-A-Lifetime Opportunity to Protect Your Family’s Long-Term Health
Your baby’s umbilical cord blood is a rich source of special blood cells called stem cells. These cells are the body’s building blocks for blood, organs, tissue, and the immune system and are genetically unique to each baby. When you bank your baby’s cord blood, you preserve a unique biological resource that is like a ‘self-repair kit’ for your child and other possible family members.
A growing number of families everyday are choosing to bank their babies’ umbilical cord blood as a potential cure for dozens of cancers, blood disorders, immune and genetic diseases. This is especially true for families that have a history of disease. StemCyte offers many options to help families just like yours afford to save this precious resource.
There are many decisions to make during your pregnancy as well as preparation for the newest addition. Saving your baby’s stem cells should be one of them. Cord blood can only be collected in the first few minutes after birth, so you must make this decision by your 3rd trimester, if not sooner, so that you have your collection kit with you to bring to the hospital. In some instances, you can get a collection kit when you arrive at the hospital. Not all hospitals have this option, so you really should enroll sooner, if possible.
2. Cord Blood Stem Cells Hold the Power to Cure Today
Cord blood provides a rich source of stem cells for use in many situations where bone marrow is considered today. Cord blood stem cells are used in disease treatment to fight over 80 diseases including many forms of malignancies such as leukemia, autoimmune diseases, lupus, and inheritable diseases such as sickle cell anemia.
Doctors have increasingly turned to cord blood stem cells as a life-saving alternative to bone marrow transplants. There is a lower probability of graft vs. host disease (GVHD) and a greater likelihood of finding an appropriate tissue type match because the match does not need to be as exact as for bone marrow.
Stem cell research is exploring new applications for treatment every day. This research may prove effective in the future treatment of many common diseases and injuries that plague today’s society, including spinal cord injury, stroke, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, heart disease, diabetes, and HIV.
3. Cord Blood Stem Cells are Genetically Unique
Your baby’s cord blood cells are a perfect match for your baby, should he or she ever need a stem cell transplant. In technical terms, it is a perfect 6 out of 6 HLA tissue type match, ideal for transplantation. Your baby’s stem cells have a 50% chance of being a match for a sibling. Cord blood stem cells may also be a match for a parent.
4. Bank on the Future of Emerging Research
With successful transplants and breakthroughs in stem cell research occurring every day, more and more expectant parents have chosen to bank their newborn’s cord blood.
Previous odds someone in your family needed a transplant were 1 in 2700. Just a few years later those odds increased to 1 in 400. These odds however, do not include emerging therapies.
Researchers are already studying the effects that cord blood stem cells have on spinal cord injury, brain injury, type 1 diabetes, stroke, heart disease, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and even HIV. As stem cell science advances, the importance of saving these cells increases exponentially.
Private cord blood banking enables you to store your baby’s stem cells for a guaranteed perfect genetic match with your child. Since cord blood can be stored indefinitely at this point, private cord blood banking is both a safeguard against diseases treatable today and a real hope for more treatment possibilities tomorrow.
5. Your Family History Does Matter
If your family has a history of disease that can be treatable with cord blood, the odds that your baby or their sibling may need a cord blood transplant increases. The number of diseases treated continues to grow with the research efforts of companies like StemCyte. We strongly encourage families to bank cord blood from all of their pregnancies in the event a sibling transplant may be a better or only treatment than an autologous treatment.
Additionally, families with an ethnic or mixed-race background may have difficulty finding a match should they ever need a stem cell transplant. Most public banks have a larger Caucasian volume of cord blood units than any other type. Although StemCyte has one of the largest, most ethnically diverse cord blood inventories in the world. More families are still choosing to save their newborn’s cord blood for peace of mind.

No hitting the snooze button for Sandy and Bette Baldwin, a couple who love their active life in the St. Andrews Estate retirement community in Boca Raton, Fla.
They could choose to ease into morning after a lifetime of working hard and raising a family, but not these two. The Baldwins set an alarm, get out of bed by 6:30 and lace up running shoes — except on the two days of the week when they work on resistance training and balance.
“We want to do everything we can to stay healthy,” says Sandy Baldwin, 64. “I’ll run until I can’t anymore, and then I’ll walk or go bicycling.”
Experts on aging, concerned about the 77 million Baby Boomers and the rapidly growing older population, say more people need to adopt the Baldwins’ commitment to physical activity. More than 62% of adults do not meet the exercise guidelines set by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Research shows the Baldwins are more likely to avoid age-related diseases and remain independent longer than those who do not exercise. The Baldwins live in a continuous-care facility but hope they never need to move to the nursing-home level.
• MORE: Exercise has colonel’s attention
“Exercise is the closest thing we have to a fountain of youth,” says Marie Bernard, deputy director of the National Institute of Aging. “With all the gains we’ve made over the years allowing people to live longer, it would be nice if more people would take advantage of exercise to improve the quality of a longer life.”
A rash of new research is exploring how exercise late in life can be beneficial and help people age in place at home rather than be forced into care facilities. Barbara Resnick, incoming president of the American Geriatrics Society, is conducting research to find ways to get people off walkers and see them ultimately “walk all the way to heaven.”
‘It makes us feel better’
Maintaining the independence and mobility of older adults is emerging as a national health priority, Resnick says. The proportion of Americans ages 65 and older is projected to increase from 12% to 20% of the population by 2030.
Exercise is more important the older we get, she says.
The Baldwins, who have been running together for 25 years, take to heart findings that show exercise can be a buffer against many age-related problems, including dementia and the muscle and bone loss that ultimately leads to frailty and loss of independence. Exercise also reduces the risk of getting heart disease and type 2 diabetes and helps prevent depression.
“We want to stay active as long as we can,” says Bette Baldwin, 64. “We know exercise is good for the brain, cardiovascular fitness and osteoporosis. We also know it makes us feel better.”
They want to be active and avoid illnesses that have immobilized three sets of friends.
Being in shape helps recovery
The guidelines established for older adults by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services require 150 minutes a week of moderate-intensity exercise and two or more days of weight training that involve all the major muscle groups.
In her new book, The Complete Guide to Fitness and Health, exercise physiologist Barbara Bushman of Missouri State University says every person needs his or her own fitness routine, but all must include resistance training for muscle and bone health. Over the course of adulthood, muscle decreases, and the amount of body fat increases. As muscles contract to lift, push or pull a heavy object, stress put on the bone increases its mass. This makes bones stronger over time. Weak muscles and bones can lead to falls and broken bones, and time spent doing rehabilitation in nursing homes.
Most people do not understand the effect of deconditioning, says Gregg Warshaw, chair of the division of geriatrics at the University of Cincinnati.
“We get more illnesses as we get older,” he says. “If you’re in good shape and you get bad illnesses, you’re likely to recover faster. That’s another reason why exercise is so important to people as they age.”
It’s never too late to get some benefit, he says, but at some point, the progression of frailty might be hard to stop.
Frailty, says Katalin Roth, a geriatrician and internist in Washington, D.C., can be a downward cascade that leads to hospitalization and death. It is a “constellation of symptoms shown to be markers of dependence and is highly prevalent in old age. Among the symptoms are poor exercise tolerance, weight loss, decreased strength and a slow walking gait.”
Nationwide study has begun
A paper published 10 years ago in the journal Gerontologist gave physicians a guideline for identifying frailty, says Bernard, but little research establishes how to prevent it. “We could always say exercise is good for you, but we haven’t been able to say yet it prevents disability,” she says.
Marco Pahor, head of the aging institute at the University of Florida, is involved in a nationwide study that aims to change that.
Millions of older people are at risk for disability, Pahor says.
“There is an epidemic of sedentary lifestyle and obesity in this country,” he says, “and a second epidemic of an aging nation. Studies show the chance of someone 65 or older ending up in a nursing home is about 50%.”
Seven other universities are also taking part in the research, known as Lifestudy. It involves 1,600 participants in a study comparing a moderate-intensity physical-activity program with a healthy-aging education program to determine what might be effective in preventing frailty. It is based on a pilot program, Pahor says, that showed those who were guided by instructors on moderate physical-activity plans did better than those who got doctors’ advice alone.
“But will (exercise) truly change a person’s life?” Pahor asks. “Keep them out of a nursing home? Let them walk across a room? We hope this trial provides this evidence. We need to find ways to keep people independent and at home.”
Pahor says researchers also are studying the effects of physical activity on cognitive, cardiovascular and sleep patterns, “all secondary outcomes of this study.” And the study will examine the cost of the intervention. “How much money could be saved by keeping people healthy?”
Study participants are in their 70s and identified as being at high risk for disability, says Anne Newman, who is leading the research at the University of Pittsburgh. “I’m surprised how many people say they don’t know if they can walk 400 meters,” she says. Doing the research “is the only way we’ll know if physical activity is the secret. We’ll be able to find out if it ever gets too late for physical activity to help.”
Pahor says the University of Florida is one of many campuses doing pharmaceutical research to find other ways to stop aging, “but so far, there’s nothing more promising than physical activity.”
The reality of aging?
Resnick is a professor of nursing at the University of Maryland, where most of her research has been done on how to motivate older adults to exercise. “They have fear about exercise, are afraid it will hurt, or they’re lazy,” she says. She’s been treating patients at the Roland Park Place, a continuous-care facility in Baltimore, for nearly 30 years and has seen how the smallest amounts of exercise can help.
The average age of her patients is 90. She encourages people in independent living to exercise but also studies how exercise helps nursing-home residents get off walkers and walking again.
“I had one 100-year-old patient who couldn’t see enough to open the door to the exercise room,” Resnick says. “But she’d open her eyes in the morning, look at me and say, ‘Can I go exercise now?’ And we’d go to the exercise room.”
The Baldwins are closely watching the “older people” at St. Andrews Estates.
“There are days we miss (exercise), but not many,” Bette Baldwin says.
“We have a lot of good role models here who are in their 90s. They’re on treadmills and stair-step machines. If more people would do that, they’d be happier, healthier and live longer.”

Dr. William LaValley from Austin Texas, is one of the top natural medicine cancer physicians. He recently shared this important information on curcumin which has the most evidence based literature for as a cancer support than any other nutrient. There are over 100 different pathways that curcumin has an effect on once it gets into the cell. Interestingly this also includes the metabolite of curcumin and its derivatives which are also anti-cancer. Curcumin appears to be safe in the treatment of all cancers.
In India where turmeric is widely used, the prevalence of four common U.S. cancers – colon, breast, prostate and lung – is 10 times lower. In fact, prostate cancer, which is the most frequently diagnosed cancer in U.S. men, is rare in India and this is attributed, in part, to the curcumin in turmeric.
Numerous studies have looked into this potential cancer-fighting link, with promising results. For instance, curcumin has been found to:
• Inhibit the proliferation of tumor cells
• Inhibit the transformation of cells from normal to tumor
• Help your body destroy mutated cancer cells so they cannot spread throughout your body
• Decrease inflammation
• Enhance liver function
• Inhibit the synthesis of a protein thought to be instrumental in tumor formation
• Prevent the development of additional blood supply necessary for cancer cell growth
And according to researchers from the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, curcumin blocks a key biological pathway needed for development of melanoma and other cancers.
The spice actually stops laboratory strains of melanoma from proliferating and pushes the cancer cells to commit suicide by shutting down nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-k
, a powerful protein known to induce abnormal inflammatory response that leads to an assortment of disorders such as arthritis and cancer.
To get the full benefits that curcumin has to offer, you will want to look for a turmeric extract with at least 95% curcuminoids that contains only 100% certified organic ingredients.
The formula should be free of fillers, additives and excipients (a substance added to the supplement as a processing or stability aid), and the manufacturer should use safe production practices at all stages: planting, cultivation, selective harvesting, and then producing and packaging the final product.
Details on How to Use Curcumin
The unfortunate challenge as this time is that there are not really any very good formulations of curcumin available to use in cancer. This is because relatively high doses are required and curcumin is not absorbed that well. Typical anticancer doses are up to three grams of good bioavailable curcmin extract, three to four times daily.
One work around for this is to use the curcumin powder and make a microemulsion of it by combining a tablespoon of the powder and mixing it into 1-2 egg yolks and a teaspoon or two of melted coconut oil. Then using a high speed hand blender to emulsify the powder.
Another strategy you can use to increase absorption is to put one tablespoon of the curcumin powder into a quart of boiling water. It must be boiling when you add the powder as it will not work as well if you put it in room temperature water and heat the water and curcumin. After boiling it for ten minutes you will have created a 12% solution and you can drink this once it has cooled down. The curcumin will gradually fall out of solution over time and in about six hours it will be a 6% solution so it is best to drink the water within four hours. It does have a woody taste.
One caution to know is that you want to avoid the “yellow kitchen” syndrome. Curcumin is a very potent yellow pigment and can permanently discolor surfaces if you aren’t careful. So you can perform the mixing under the hood of your stove with the blower on to make sure no powder gets into your kitchen.

If you’ve ever taken a break from work or studying to take a quick walk around the block, you may understand the rationale for this next tip. Exercise not only exercises the body, it exercises the brain as well.
Obesity is a risk factor for many diseases and conditions that eventually wreak havoc on the brain, including stroke and Alzheimer’s disease. Without regular exercise, plaque builds up in the arteries and blood vessels lose the ability to pump blood effectively. While you may know how plaque builds-up leads to heart attacks, you may not think about the way your brain is gasping for breath as well.
The brain depends on energy received through a constant intake of oxygen and nutrients from the bloodstream, and when those nutrients don’t arrive, the brain’s ability to work is compromised. So to keep the blood moving to the brain, you’re going to need to get up from your chair (after you finish reading this article, of course) and get the blood pumping. It doesn’t matter what you do – a brisk walk, a swim and even a dance move or two can all provide a good mental workout. Studies show that the more physically active a person is, the greater his or her cognitive performance [source: Victoroff].
Keep a lookout on your brisk walk for interesting images – you’ll need them for the memory tip on the next page.

In a perfect world, you’d have all the time you needed to exercise, but sometimes it’s hard to set aside time for fitness. Although the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends two and a half hours of aerobic exercise a week – a little more than 20 minutes a day – even a less than ideal amount of exercise is better than remaining idle. Next time you’re pressed for time, squeeze in a 10-minute workout.
• Strength Routine
Start with a 12-repetition set of back stretches: While standing, lace your fingers together behind your head so your elbows point forward in front of your face; lean forward until you touch your knees, then return standing. Follow with muscle-building sets of deep knee bends, push-ups, dips using your bed to elevate your feet, calf raises and leg raises. Wrap up your miniature workout with a set of bicycle crunches, a variation on the standard crunch: When you sit up, raise one knee toward your head, and twist your body to touch it with your opposite elbow. Perform this set until failure.
• Shadowboxing Workout
Warm up by holding your hands in front of your face in boxer’s position, vigorously stepping side to side for a minute, then add deep dips to your stepping motion for the next minute. Once you’re warmed up, continue your foot motion as you practice sets of 10 to 16 repetitions of punches with each arm, cycling through jabs, cross punches and uppercuts. Throw each punch with full force to receive the full cardio benefit of this full-body workout routine.
• Jumping Rope
After jumping rope for 10 minutes, you’ll realize it’s not just kids’ stuff. Start by skipping normally with your feet together for a minute, then jump from side to side for another two minutes. Alternate 10 hops on each leg for two minutes. Add other actions, such as jumping jacks, jumping forward or backward with each skip to finish your 10-minute routine.
• Walking
Merely getting out of the office or your home for a brisk 10-minute walk has its health benefits. Rick Bradley’s 15-minute “Quick Fit” program hinges upon a 10-minute stretch of aerobic activity, and he recommends walking for beginners. Although you won’t burn many calories in a 10-minute walk, you’ll receive cardiovascular benefits if you walk quickly enough to raise your heart rate.

Post-menopausal women can face a variety of health issues. Exercise is a key part of staying healthy.
Why Exercise is Important for Post-Menopausal Women?
• Exercise helps prevent osteoporosis by keeping bone and cartilage tissue strong and healthy.
• Exercise reduces the risk of heart attack and other cardiovascular diseases by increasing heart and respiratory rates.
• Exercise keeps your joints moving and keeps the muscles around your joints strong. This helps in the prevention of arthritis.
• Exercise will help to maintain regular bowel function, a common problem as people become older.
• Exercise will improve a woman’s overall health and fitness by controlling weight, making the heart stronger and retaining a sense of well-being and alertness.
Exercise Helps Prevent Osteoporosis
Osteoporosis is a decrease in bone mineral density. Weight-bearing exercises are essential in preventing osteoporosis. These exercises cause weight to be placed on the bones, especially the hips, legs and spine. The weight placed on the bone helps slow deterioration of the bone.
Good Exercises for Post-Menopausal Women:
• Experts agree that walking is the best form of exercise for post-menopausal women. It can be done anywhere, at anytime and promotes social interaction. Donald E. Waite, D.O., MPH, professor emeritus, Department of Family Medicine, Michigan State University, East Lansing, Mich., suggests that people walk in shopping malls. Shopping malls are extremely safe, plus you don’t need to worry about the weather, he says.
• Light weight training will help build muscle mass and keep muscles tone.
• Low-impact aerobics is great for increasing heart and respiratory rates, which helps keep vital organs healthy.
• General activity is also urged. Older women should go outside and wash the car or work in the garden.
Exercise should be done daily for at least 30 minutes. If not, then at least three times a week. “Any activity is better than no activity,” says Waite.

Pain in either of the hips or both the hips may be caused due to any reason but it is very painful. One might face severe pains while getting-up or moving around.
Nobody can restrict his/her movements; therefore medical treatment could be the only alternative.
But what could be the best way out. Pain-killer is no solution.
In most of the cases, the patient could gain relief from the following measures:
1. Mild massage on the designated points at the backside, buttock crease and back of the thighs.
2. Cold-packs/hot-packs massage, twice a day
3. Physical exercise.

Kelly Brooks fitness routine
Ina recent UK survey conducted by Fitness First Kelly Brook was voted the best celebrity body. Brook is an advocate of having a healthy weight loss program.
“It’s about doing the activities that you enjoy in order to keep moving and stay active,” Kelly says of her healthy weight loss program.
Kelly Brook, 29, is without doubt one of the UK’s most attractive and fittest celebrities. She is also one of the most energetic, bouncy and fun loving.celebrities, according to Health & Fitness magazine. Kelly Brook has in the past made tongue-in-cheek claims that her fitness and weight loss is due to having lots of special cuddles with her partner. However, she now reveals that it is her love of dancing which is the true key to her healthy weight loss success, as well as more traditional fitness exercises.
So, how does she stay in such great shape? What is Kelly Brook’s healthy weight loss diet plan? How does Kelly Brook do her fitness exercise program?
Kelly Brooks’ Healthy Weight Loss Diet Plan
Kelly Brook’s healthy weight loss diet plan is the macrobiotic weight loss diet plan that is based on selecting foods that are less processed and therefore more natural together with using the traditional means of cooking. However, Kelly at times cheats on her weight loss diet plan and treats herself with eating cheeseburgers. “I’m a fan of the macrobiotic weight loss diet plan because I love the idea of eating what’s growing in your surroundings – seasonal, organic and whatnot.” (But) I really love cheeseburgers – that’s my biggest weakness,” Kelly claims.
Kelly Brook’s weight loss diet plan encourages her to eat whole grains like brown rice and grain products such as pasta, several cooked and raw vegetables and bean products such as tofu, sea vegetables, mild natural seasoning, fish, fruit, nuts, seeds as well as mild beverages. Furthermore, foods to be consumed by Kelly must be organically grown and eaten fresh.
Tips for staying in shape
Fitness exercise and Weight loss Tip#1
Be realistic: She told Health & Fitness that as she approaches 30, she realizes that she has to do much more to continue to look great. When she was younger, it was relatively easy, but now a good weight loss diet plan and a disciplined fitness exercise program are essential. Her main fitness exercise program and method of achieving a healthy weight loss is dancing, now, although she used to do a lot of cardio exercise by walking and doing Pilates exercise. But she says that her fitness exercise program of dancing actually built more muscle and better definition that any of her previous fitness programs, and that she felt a lot better mentally as well as physically for being dance fit.

Kelly Brook says that a variety in your fitness exercise program and weight loss is the key to staying motivated. She soon gets bored after doing a fitness program as a means for having a healthy weight loss, so mixing up her fitness exercise program really helps. She does a lot of dancing and dance fitness exercises, and adds exercise equipment such as dumbbells and exercise balls to her dance fitness exercise program. She also does cardio exercise by running, doing hula hoops, doing aqua aerobics fitness exercise or traditional circuit fitness training outside. She gains a lot of inspiration and advice from her personal fitness trainer Tamavah Ahmad, who is Rebook’s UK master fitness trainer.
Kelly is also happy to do someweight fitness training exercise. She says that women who avoid weight fitness training for fear of bulking up are “living in a dream world” or just using it as an excuse to avoid any kind of fitness exercise program. Her advice for people that cannot afford a personal fitness trainer is to find a friend that they can do their fitness exercise program with, as this is also a great way to stay motivated.
Keys to Kelly Brook’s great figure
• Exercise equipment such as stability Ball exercises to strengthen the core muscles, including pikes and dorsal raises.
• Cardio exercise like running for endurance and cardiovascular fitness
• Body weight circuit fitness training exercise for full body fitness exercise program amd muscle toning.
• Dancing also as part of her cardio exercise program, flexibility and lots of fun!

Cucumber for dark circles, Tea bags for puffy eyes, and Vinegar for dandruff can be a part of your beauty regime.,
You’ve been out all day in the hot sun, your face is tanned and dark. Your eyes are puffy and tired after hours at work.
With a glam party to attend in a couple of hours, what do you do when aren’t exactly looking like lady-killer material? By using these readily available kitchen products, you can spruce up your appearance within minutes. And the price is free!
Curd/Yogurt :Removing Tan and Soothing Sunburn
The summer sun has darkened your sun by several shades. Not a problem.
Apply a little homemade curd on the affected areas of the skin. It will not only help in soothing the sun burn but will also clear away the tan. If you don’t make curd at home, the packaged variety will also do. Do not use curd if you have oily or sensitive skin.
Lemon Juice & Glycerine: Removing Tan and Fairness.
While curd works well to remove tan, it’s not a good option for facial skin that’s sensitive, oily or susceptible to acne. Curd, rather, all milk products contain bacteria that may aggravate the problem of acne if applied directly to the skin. So a better option for acne ridden skin is to apply lemon juice mixed with glycerine. The mixture should be strictly on a 50-50 basis. Add equal amounts of lemon juice and glycerine, apply it on the face and keep it for 15 -20 minutes, and then wash it off with cold water.
Lemon Juice : Hair Lightening
Lemon juice, because it is mildly acidic, works well in lightening the color of hair. So if you want to lighten your hair color, rinse it with a mixture of three quarter cups of water and one quarter of lemon juice. Works better than those hair coloring products.
Cucumber : Tired Eyes and Dark circles
Tired and puffy eyes make you look overworked and fatigued. So while a good long nap would be a great idea, one of the best possible quick fix solutions would be to place a slice of cucumber on each eye and relax for a 20 -25 minutes.
Tea bags: Puffy Eyes and Foot Deodorant
Another very effective way of making tired, sore eyes sparkle with energy is to soak a tea bag in lukewarm water for a few minutes and then place one on each eye. Leave them there for about 20 minutes.
If you suffer from the infamous stinky feet syndrome, boil four to five tea bags or about three teaspoons of tea leaves in a quart of water and wait for it cool down to room temperature. Then add some cold water to the solution and soak your feet for 30 minutes. Dry your feet and apply medicated foot powder. At the height of your foot problem, follow this procedure twice a day, and once the odor is cured, do it twice a week for prevention.
Orange Juice : Skin Toning
Orange juice’s vitamin C content makes it an excellent toner. When massaged into the face, it helps in removing excess grime and grease that can’t be removed with soap alone. To make the toner, blend half an orange, one and a half teaspoons of lemon juice and a quarter of a cup of water. The mixture should be blended till it is smooth. Then soak a cotton ball in it and apply it on the face.
Yogurt, Gram flour and Turmeric : Improving complexion
For a smooth, clear and blemish free complexion, mix three spoonfuls of curd with a single spoon of Channa (gram) flour or besan and a small teaspoon of haldi (turmeric). Mix to make a thick, smooth paste. Apply evenly all over the face and leave it on for twenty minutes. Rinse it off with cold water.
Vinegar: Dandruff
Gently massage your scalp with a little malt vinegar, and leave on for 15-20 minutes. Wash off with a gentle herbal shampoo. For a serious dandruff problem, then repeat this procedure at least three times a week for two weeks.
Honey and Olive Oil: Hair conditioner
Make a smooth paste by mixing two spoonfuls of fresh honey with a single spoon of olive oil. Massage into your hair, starting with the roots and ending with the tips of your hair. Then, keep your hair covered with a shower cap and let the mixture seep in deep into your scalp. After 20 minutes, use a gentle herbal shampoo to rinse off the mixture.
Black Tea Bag: Lips
Soak a bag of black tea in warm water, and press it on your lips for about 10 minutes. You can repeat the procedure as many times as you want. Black tea’s high tannin content will make your lips taut and smooth.
Coriander Leaves : Lips
Massaging your lips with the juice of Coriander leaves (dhania) will makes your lips rosy and soft.
Grated Potatoes : Dark Circles
Potatoes contain catecholase, used as skin lighteners in cosmetics, and can also used to treat under eye circles. Grate a raw potato, squeeze the juice and apply it underneath the eyes. Leave it on for fifteen minutes and then rinse with cool water.

Arthritis is a very painful disease. It is also known as an old-age problem which attacks any of the joint(s). Usually it attacks the knee-joints’. In fact, it is an autoimmune disease where the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks its own healthy tissues.
Most common symptoms of various arthritic conditions are:
• Inflammation of the joints
• Pain and stiffness
• Swelling of the joints
• Degenerative damage to the affected areas
Castor oil has been found very effective in gaining relief from arthritis pains. It can be used topically. It is slightly heated and applied on the affected areas that experience pain, swelling and inflammation.
You must ensure that the oil is not very hot, otherwise it can cause discomfort to the skin. Apply the oil and massage the skin in circular and up/down or sideways strokes. It will increase absorption by the skin. You can leave the area open or wrap it with a cotton cloth to keep the area warm.
The best time for this topical application is at night, before bed time. Leave the oil on all night as this will increase its absorption by your body. The increased absorption will lead to enhanced benefits.
According to Ayurveda, Castor oil taken orally works as a laxative and cures gas and bloating in the stomach. It detoxifies the stomach and helps in boosting the immune system, thereby reversing the autoimmune disease.
Arthritis is a common name used for a group of medical conditions.
Osteoarthritis (OA), Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) and Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) are the most common types of arthritis.
There are several ways to take it orally:
• Mix 2 tablespoons of oil in 1 cup of warm water and drink it before your morning tea or coffee
• You can also mix it in your morning tea and coffee
• Warm your favourite fruit or vegetable juice (not in a microwave) and mix 2 tablespoons in it
• In severe RA cases, boil 1 glass of water with 1/4 spoon of ginger powder. Strain, cool and add 2 spoons of the oil to the liquid before you drink it.
The best times for oral ingestion are early in the morning on an empty stomach or just before going to bed. You may start with 1 tablespoon and increase it to 2 or 3 tablespoons over 1 to 2 weeks.
Castor Oil possesses various healing properties:
• Relieves Pain
• Reduces Inflammation
• Reduces Swelling
• Increases lymphatic circulation
• Reduces flatulence
• Stimulates the liver and gall bladder
• Reduces toxins
Harvey Grady did a scientific study of the effect of topical application of castor oil on humans. His study found castor oil to be an antitoxin, and as having an impact on the lymphatic system, enhancing the immune function of the body. A two-hour topical application caused an increase in the number of T-11 cells and a large increase in total lymphocytes in the blood within a 24-hour period following treatment. Thus, it gave a boost to the body’s defense mechanism. T-cells find and kill viruses, bacteria, fungi, and cancer cells. Lymphocytes are responsible for protecting the body from pathogens and their toxins.
It was also used in ancient times in Egypt, the Middle East and Rome. The Castor bean plant is called as Palma Christi (Palm of the Christ) in the Bible.

As India grapples with a major public health problem, being home to an estimated 50.8 million diabetic population, the largest in the world, experts say consuming a few almonds daily can help combat the lifestyle disease.
‘Eating almonds has a positive effect on reducing low density cholesterol and also improves insulin sensitivity; so it does help in pushing diabetes away,’ says Ritesh Gupta, head of clinical operation at Fortis C-Doc Hospital.
‘It is a healthy source of fibre, protein and calories and has been found to have a positive effect in reducing bad cholesterol and improved insulin sensitivity,’ Gupta told IANS.
Diabetes is caused when there is deficiency of insulin hormone, which controls blood sugar levels. Its symptoms include fatigue, excessive thirst and frequent urination.
With an estimated 50.8 million people living with the disease, India has the world’s largest population of diabetics in the world, followed by China with 43.2 million, says the World Health Organisation (WHO).
The number in India is expected to go up to 87 million - 8.4 percent of the country’s adult population - by 2030.
With India staring at a major public health threat due to diabetes and other lifestyle diseases, almond is now being hailed as the health nut.
‘Indians are more prone to lifestyle diseases like diabetes. The increasingly sedentary lifestyle and fast food double up the risk. Almond, which has traditionally been part of our diet, is a high source of nutrition and helps push these diseases away,’ says Anoop Misra, director of Diabetes Foundation (India).
‘A handful of almonds contains 164 calories and 7 gm of protein, which helps in fighting hunger pangs and helps you control what you eat. Almonds also help growing children in developing strong bones,’ he adds.
A study done by scholars from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, West Chester University, Pennsylvania, and Loma Linda University of California, all in the US, and published in the Journal of the American College of Nutrition also confirms that the nut can control diabetes if consumed regularly.
‘A diet consisting of 20 percent of calories as almonds over a 16-week period is effective in improving markers of insulin sensitivity and yields clinically significant improvements in LDL-C (low density lipoprotein cholesterol) in adults with pre-diabetes,’ the study said.
‘We have made great strides in chronic disease research, from evidence of effective treatment to evidence of effective prevention,’ said Michelle Wien, assistant research professor in nutrition at Loma Linda University’s School of Public Health.
She was also the principal investigator for the study, which was conducted at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.
‘Low density cholesterol is the cholesterol which blocks the arteries. According to the study, the intake of almonds had a significant effect on reducing the levels, along with improving insulin sensitivity,’ said Karen Lapsley, chief scientific officer of the Almond Board of California, which was an associate in the study.
‘It’s also very easy to consume, one can have it any time, so it merges well with the hectic lifestyle,’ Lapsley said.
Gupta, however, adds that indiscreet consumption of almonds alone will not help and it should be seen as a percentage of total calorie intake.
‘It is not that one can eat anything and pop five almonds. It has to be seen as a percentage of total calorie intake. The rest of the diet is as important,’ he added.

LIFT BIG - Give your muscles a reason to grow. Don’t do endless sets, be intense. Go heavy, but don’t remain much longer than an hour. Train 3-4 days a week. Hit failure and make that last set count.
EAT BIG - You must eat to grow. For gaining, take 20Cal/lb bodyweight daily. Get 30g protein per meal. Eat 6 meals a day. Don’t be scared of fats. Cut junk food. You will crave chicken breasts, tuna shakes, pasta and chocolate milk.
SLEEP - Recovery is key. If you’re an meso/endomorph, get 8-9 hours a day, an ectomorph needs at least 6-7. You grow outside the gym, not in.
WATER WATER EVERYWHERE - Carry that gallon jug with you at all times. Drink 8 litres a day. Keeps you well-hydrated so you can train at your best and have your caloric needs in check.
COMMIT - If you’re not sick or injured, you must train. You start skipping… you might as well forget those dreams. You must want to become that impressive physique before you can begin building it. Get yourself a reliable training partner.
YOU AIN’T SQUAT ‘TIL YOU SQUAT - If you have legs, a desire to grow and your back is OK, you must squat. Without the king of exercises, your growth is going to suffer. Squats develop more than just legs.
CHANGEUP FREQUENTLY - Change your routine around frequently. Every 3-6 weeks, vary the order that you do your routine, or change your whole style altogether. Try HIT, super-slow, negative training, high volume, etc.
DON’T OVER TRAIN - A good routine is brief, intense, and only has a couple exercises per bodypart. Limit the total number of sets you do. If your progress is slowing, you’re getting injured or sick frequently, then it’s time to take a break. Take 4-6 days off, and then go back at it. Don’t be surprised if you’re stronger after your layoff.
HEAL - Once you’re injured, take a break. Lose 2 weeks training now, or prepare to keep those injuries forever.
FORM - Anyone can throw around the weights. Concentrate on good form, and then let the numbers follow. Get a full range of motion and be proud that you’re one of the few who actually trains properly.
Some older folks may worry that the efforts expended during sex could cause a stroke, that’s not so, according to researchers from England. In a study published in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health, scientists found frequency of sex was not associated with stroke in the 914 men they followed for 20 years.
And the heart health benefits of sex don’t end there. The researchers also found that having sex twice or more a week reduced the risk of fatal heart attack by half for the men, compared with those who had sex less than once a month.
1. Sex Relieves Stress
Sex helps in lowering blood pressure and overall stress reduction as reported by researchers from Scotland in their findings in the journal Biological Psychology. They studied 24 women and 22 men who kept records of their sexual activity. Then the researchers subjected them to stressful situations – such as speaking in public and doing verbal arithmetic – and noted their blood pressure response to stress.
Those who had intercourse had better responses to stress than those who engaged in other sexual behaviours or abstained.
Another study published in the same journal found that frequent intercourse was associated with lower diastolic blood pressure in cohabiting participants. Yet other research found a link between partner hugs and lower blood pressure in women.
2. Sex Burns Calories
Thirty minutes of sex burns 85 calories or more. It may not sound like much, but it adds up: 42 half-hour sessions will burn 3,570 calories, more than enough to lose a pound. Doubling up, you could drop that pound in 21 hour-long sessions.
“Sex is a great mode of exercise,” says Patti Britton, PhD, a Los Angeles sexologist and president of the American Association of Sexuality Educators and Therapists. It takes work, from both a physical and psychological perspective, to do it well, she says.
3. Sex Helps You Sleep Better
The oxytocin released during orgasm also promotes sleep, according to research.
And getting enough sleep has been linked with a host of other good things, such as maintaining a healthy weight and blood pressure. Something to think about, especially if you’ve been wondering why your guy can be active one minute and snoring the next.
4. Sex Improves Intimacy
Having sex and orgasms increases levels of the hormone oxytocin, the so-called love hormone, which helps us bond and build trust. Researchers from the University of Pittsburgh and the University of North Carolina evaluated 59 premenopausal women before and after warm contact with their husbands and partners ending with hugs. They found that the more contact, the higher the oxytocin levels.
“Oxytocin allows us to feel the urge to nurture and to bond,” Britton says.
Higher oxytocin has also been linked with a feeling of generosity. So if you’re feeling suddenly more generous toward your partner than usual, credit the love hormone.
5. Sex Reduces Pain
As the hormone oxytocin surges, endorphins increase, and pain declines. So if your headache, arthritis pain, or PMS symptoms seem to improve after sex, you can thank those higher oxytocin levels.
In a study published in the Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine, 48 volunteers who inhaled oxytocin vapor and then had their fingers pricked lowered their pain threshold by more than half.
6. Sex Reduces Prostate Cancer Risk
Frequent ejaculations, especially in 20-something men, may reduce the risk of prostate cancer later in life, Australian researchers reported in the British Journal of Urology International. When they followed men diagnosed with prostate cancer and those without, they found no association of prostate cancer with the number of sexual partners as the men reached their 30s, 40s, and 50s.
But they found men who had five or more ejaculations weekly while in their 20s reduced their risk of getting prostate cancer later by a third.
Another study, reported in the Journal of the American Medical Association, found that frequent ejaculations, 21 or more a month, were linked to lower prostate cancer risk in older men, as well, compared with less frequent ejaculations of four to seven monthly.
7. Sex Strengthens Pelvic Floor Muscles
For women, doing a few pelvic floor muscle exercises known as Kegels during sex offers a couple of benefits. You will enjoy more pleasure, and you’ll also strengthen the area and help to minimize the risk of incontinence later in life.
To do a basic Kegel exercise, tighten the muscles of your pelvic floor, as if you’re trying to stop the flow of urine. Count to three, then release.
8. Sex Boosts Immunity
Good sexual health may mean better physical health. Having sex once or twice a week has been linked with higher levels of an antibody called immunoglobulin A or IgA, which can protect you from getting colds and other infections. Scientists at Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., took samples of saliva, which contain IgA, from 112 college students who reported the frequency of sex they had.
Those in the “frequent” group – once or twice a week – had higher levels of IgA than those in the other three groups – who reported being abstinent, having sex less than once a week, or having it very often, three or more times weekly.
9. Sex Boosts Self-Esteem
Boosting self-esteem was one of 237 reasons people have sex, collected by University of Texas researchers and published in the Archives of Sexual Behavior.
That finding makes sense to Gina Ogden, PhD, a sex therapist and marriage and family therapist in Cambridge, Mass., although she finds that those who already have self-esteem say they sometimes have sex to feel even better. “One of the reasons people say they have sex is to feel good about themselves,” she tells WebMD. “Great sex begins with self-esteem, and it raises it. If the sex is loving, connected, and what you want, it raises it.”

That long soak in a hot tub to warm up during the winter could hold some unexpected dangers, a Japanese study has found.
Taking a hot bath on a cold day may spell trouble for the heart, said a team led by Chika Nishiyama, at Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine School of Nursing, with the rate of cardiac arrests during bathing rising ten-fold from summer to winter.
The findings could be especially significant in Japan, where bathing is a key part of life both at home and as a form of recreation, with people flocking to the country’s numerous hot springs for long, relaxing soaks.
“In Japan, most people take a deep, hot bath, since traditional Japanese homes are not well-insulated as in the west and central heating is quite uncommon,” Nishiyama and colleagues wrote in “Resuscitation.”
The team based their study on data from nearly 11,000 cardiac arrests in the western prefecture of Osaka between 2005 and 2007.
Prior to the cardiac arrest, 22 percent of people had been sleeping, 9 percent had been bathing, 3 percent had been working, and 0.5 percent had been exercising. The rest had been doing “nonspecific” or unknown activities.
When looking at cardiac arrest rates, at the top of the list was 54 arrests per 10 million people per hour of bathing, followed by 10 per 10 million people per hour of exercising.
For bathers, the risk was tied to outside temperatures, with more cardiac arrests on colder days.
While it’s still unclear how to explain the link, getting into a hot tub on a frigid day causes a rapid blood pressure drop, which stressed the heart.
“Preventive approaches such as warming a bathroom and hallway or refraining from taking a deep, hot bath could be important for high risk people,” Nishiyama and colleagues wrote.

Acai berries are native to Central and South America and have been consumed by the natives for hundreds of years as one of the staples of their diet. The acai berries are a fruit about the size and shape of a grape, with a deep purple skin. Acai berries are related other berries (including blueberries and cranberries).
Acai berries have become famous in the media over the past couple of years as a weight loss supplement since the compounds in the acai berry may help to suppress appetite, increase metabolism and assist in muscle building.
They possess numerous other health benefits. Natural health experts have described the acai berry as the number one super food.
Acai berry products are also being touted as beneficial for their anti-ageing properties. Foods high in antioxidants help prevent skin damage (not just to the surface of the skin, but to the collagen and elastin which gives skin its elasticity) and thus can prevent premature ageing.
Many makers of cosmetics are now including acai oil in their skin care products, as the oil itself is very high in antioxidants and can be used safely in face and body creams, shampoos and conditioners, and other beauty products.

A good mother has so much tolerance for her family. She accommodates and adjusts and learns to fulfill the heavy demands and needs of each member. Why? Because she has deep love and commitment and responsibility. Where there is love and commitment there is no feeling of having to tolerate. Where there is no love, the feeling of having to tolerate comes in.
When we deal with a situation with love then there is no feeling of tolerating. Tolerant people are like brick walls. No matter what they are up against they rebound and yet remain strong, secure and loving. It’s all about absorbing and accepting. A paper towel is able to absorb and soak up water. Gardens and fields are able to withstand any type of weather. Can we be the same and yet keep on smiling? Without a doubt….Yes
A resounding yes. Willpower and determination can move mountains. Each of us is living human trees who go through all four seasons; everyone’s capacity to tolerate is different. Inner strength comes from understanding. As I stand still I begin to understand that actually I am not tolerating, but just have a big and generous heart to accept and absorb what is coming towards me. If, like the ocean, I am able to accept anything that comes my way with open arms then life becomes easier, relationships are happier. When I resist something, problems occur and even escalate.
Sometimes, we feel pain and resentment, both of which are negative qualities. We are unable to tolerate and instead feel empty and at a loss. Our capacity to tolerate is just not there and we start to re-act and blame. However when we learn to just accept and move on, we again begin to fill ourselves with inner strength and our capacity to tolerate again increases. Difficult circumstances are like a mirror and we see ourselves in our real colors. Our responsibility is to respond in the best possible way. Imagine a tree laden with fruits and a small boy throwing stones at it as he tries to get the fruit down. The tree doesn’t get upset with the boy but yields its fruit anyway. Let us learn to have such tolerance and our life will definitely become happier.
Inspirations for the Power to tolerate
*Love melts impatience
*Kindness reaches out to hardened hearts and makes them soft and kind
*Compassion creates confidence
*By remaining a companion of tolerance, we remain safe
*A silent mind and quiet heart bring the power to tolerate
*Tolerant people continue to inspire and carry on. They never give up
*Tolerance works like a bridge bringing everyone together and uniting
*Sometimes in life we are forced to face situations in which we have no choice
Tap inside and feel the power within; use the inspirations above to bring about change in your life and see how much happiness it can bring to you and others.

Stress is the fact of life. You may not be able to avoid it but you surely lower it.
Don’t get surprised, there are simple ways:
• Make a schedule. Start with important things – first.
• Be honest with your approach. You would find simpler ways to do a thing better.
• Limit your alcohol, avoid smoking, get plenty of rest. Take care of yourself.
• Try out new ways of thinking. When you find yourself starting to worry, try to stop the thoughts. Work on letting go of things you cannot change. Learn to say “no.”
• Assertive communication can help you express how you feel in a thoughtful, tactful way.
• Successful people have a strong network of family and friends. It helps in managing stress better. If need be, don’t hesitate to see a counselor.
Relieve your stress through:
• Walking is a great way to get started.
• Write about the things that are bothering you.
• Talk, laugh, cry, and express anger when you need to with someone you trust.
• A hobby can help you relax. ‘Helping others’ can be a great stress reliever.
• Go for breathing exercises, muscle relaxation exercises, massage or yoga
• Laughter really can be the best medicine
• Try meditation and listen to relaxing music.

Your eyes are always busy, telling the world about you. That’s one reason why the area around them is so prone to expression lines. But while we can love laugh lines, let’s be honest: we can do without dark circles, fine lines, wrinkles, puffiness and dark spots. To deal with them effectively, it’s important to understand eye skin care and give proper attention to this, one of the thinnest, most delicate skin on your body.
Shedding light on dark circles, lines, dark spots and puffy eyes.
Dark circles have a variety of causes. Many experts believe that blood retention caused by fatigue, lack of sleep or stress can create the look of dark circles. Other causes? Veins and capillaries can show through skin; irritation and dry skin can make the area look dull and tired. Finally, natural shadows from the brow bone can also make this area appear darker.
When it comes to fine lines (crow’s feet), wrinkles, puffiness and dark spots, it’s wise to remember that this delicate area of the face can show signs of aging a lot sooner than other areas of skin on our face and body. So it’s important to limit sun damage, improper care and neglect.
Bottom line: Give your eye area the right kind of care.
To help prevent or to minimize the appearance of dark circles, fine lines and damage, make sure to use a special lightweight moisturizer (eye cream) under the eye area. Under-eye creams are specially formulated to deal with the special needs of this area. For example, they won’t migrate on the skin. That way, they won’t run into the eye and irritate it—which regular moisturizers can do.
Further reflections on eye skin care.
Look for under-eye creams that contain gentle and non-irritating ingredients along with a wide range of vitamins, antioxidants, and skin-plumping substances. Be careful to also manage salt intake, get enough sleep and try not to rub the area around the eyes. If you have allergies/sinusitis be sure to keep them under control as much as possible since that can also contribute to the puffiness in this area. The under-eye area is also one place where stress shows very quickly, so managing your stressors is helpful as well.
Nighttime is an especially good time to treat this delicate area, as skin is more receptive then. Gently massage eye products into the skin around the eyes. And, as you treat and care for the skin around your eyes, remember to always protect your skin with an SPF product during the day.

The noise of snoring is caused by parts of the nose and throat - in particular, the soft palate - vibrating as you breathe in and out. At night, the muscles that help keep your airways open relax and become floppy. This causes the airways to narrow and vibrate more, making snoring more likely.
Causes and risk factors
There are also a number of factors that can make snoring worse:
• Alcohol or sleeping tablets relax the muscles even further.
• Being overweight puts pressure on the airways.
• Colds, allergies, nasal polyps, a damaged or crooked nose can block the nose, causing you to breathe through your mouth.
• Smokers are twice as likely as non-smokers to snore because their airways get inflamed and blocked.
• Sleeping on your back.
You may also be suffering with obstructive sleep apnoea. In this condition, the relaxed throat muscles block the airway briefly hundreds of times each night stopping you breathing and depriving your body of oxygen.
More than 3.5 million people in the UK snore. It’s thought to affect four out of ten men and up to three out of ten women. And, of course, millions of partners and neighbours suffer sleep-disturbed nights as a result.
Treatment and recovery
The following can help reduce the chances of you snoring:
• Avoid drinking alcohol late at night.
• Maintain your ideal weight.
• Raise the head of the bed.
• Sleep on your side (to stop you rolling on to your back, sew a ball in the back of a top to wear in bed or wedge a pillow under your back).
• Keep your nasal passages clear by using a humidifier, inhaling steam or rubbing a few drops of eucalyptus or olbas oil on your pillowcase (antihistamine tablets and/or anti-inflammatory nasal sprays may help; always check with the pharmacist that they’re suitable for you, especially if you’re taking other medicines).
Surgical techniques have improved recently and are more widely available but should be seen as a last resort.
Surgery can be used to remove nasal polyps, straighten crooked noses and cut out floppy soft palate tissue to stop it vibrating. Laser surgery stiffens the palate to reduce vibration. Somnoplasty uses radio frequency energy to shrink the floppy soft palate tissue rather than cutting it out.

Urinary tract infections can affect any part of your urinary tract, but the lower urinary tract is far more common—specifically, your bladder (cystitis) and urethra (urethritis). Once in a while, a UTI can progress up to the kidneys (nephritis or pyelonephritis), which is a more serious infection and warrants a trip to your health care provider.
Kidney infections can cause permanent kidney damage and kidney failure if not promptly resolved, or can spread to your bloodstream.
In addition to the classic UTI symptoms listed earlier, symptoms of kidney infection can include:
• Fever
• Back, side (flank) or groin pain
• Abdominal pain
Take care while using an antibiotic, it has to be of high quality & high potency. It is advisable to take probiotic to replace the beneficial bacteria killed by the antibiotic. If you take your antibiotic at 8am and 8pm, take your probiotic at 2pm to minimize the affects of the antibiotic.
As a woman, there are some specific hygiene steps you can take to maintain a healthy urinary tract:
• Drink plenty of pure, filtered water every day
• Urinate when you feel the need; don’t resist the urge to go
• Wipe from front to back to prevent bacteria from entering your urethra
• Take showers instead of tub baths; avoid hot tubs/Jacuzzis
• Cleanse your genital area prior to sexual intercourse
• Avoid using feminine hygiene sprays, which may irritate your urethra
• Use only white unscented toilet paper to avoid potential dye reactions, or better yet—a bidet
In addition, a healthy diet is key in supporting your urinary tract.
Antibiotics for a UTI must be avoided whenever possible.
There are number of reasons:
1. Antibiotics are highly overused in humans and pets, as well as in livestock, and this careless overuse has created antibiotic-resistant superbugs like MRSA and antibiotic-resistant tuberculosis.
2. Antibiotics kill the good bacteria, along with the bad, as described earlier, setting you up for fungal infections, diarrhoea, and other digestive trouble.
3. Many antibiotics have terrible side effects and can cause dangerous allergic reactions.
4. Antibiotic treatment does not successfully kill all the bacteria participating in the infection and may, in fact, encourage many of the bacteria to persist in a resting state.
5. Using unnecessary antibiotics with children prevents them from developing their own natural defences as their immune systems mature.
6. Physicians often prescribe newer, very expensive antibiotics for UTIs instead of “old gold standards,” which is a strain on your pocketbook.
The majority of urinary tract infections can be cured when symptoms first arise, or prevented altogether by practicing the natural measures outlined in this article.
Occasionally, despite preventative measures, a kidney infection can develop. If you suspect you have a kidney infection—especially if you have a fever—it might be necessary to see a physician and employ an antibiotic so the infection does not spread to your kidney and cause some very serious problems.

Get in the mood
A fulfilling relationship with your partner helps you overcome your daily challenges-a difficult boss, rush hour traffic, rising prices and random rudeness from strangers-and multiplies your joys. You have something (or someone) to fall back on every day (thank God!). You are calmer and securer. How could that not be good for you? But it’s not just that feeling of high, or the sense of security that makes love so wonderful.
There’s emerging evidence about the physical benefits of love too: sex, kinship and caring all improve heart health, boost immunity, lower stress and give that wow glow to your skin! In fact, it may not be long before doctors prescribe steamy sex, romantic getaways and compassionate communication in addition to a healthy diet, exercise and sleep. Sounds good? Explore love with your partner to bring on happiness and cash in on the health gains.
Love protects your heart
A 2007 study from the University of Pittsburgh found that women who are in good marriages or relationships have a much lower risk of heart disease than those in high-stress ones. “This is possibly because being in a loving relationship reduces stress, which is a major risk factor for heart disease,” explains Dr Anil Mishra, Medical Director and Senior consultant Interventional Cardiologist, BM Birla Heart Research Centre, Kolkata.
It’s equally beneficial for men, who have sex twice or more a week are up to 45% less likely to have a heart attack and stroke than those who have sex once a month or less, according to several studies.
It keeps you disease-proof
Studies have shown that lovemaking increases the levels of immunoglobulin A, an antibody that is the body’s first line of defense in fighting bugs that cause diseases and infections. This gives your immunity an overall boost helping you keep diseases at bay.
One of the most concrete pieces of evidence comes from a study by Carl J Charnetski, PhD, a professor of psychology at Wilkes University and co-author of Feeling Good Is Good for You. He measured the immune function of 112 college students, many of whom were in close, loving relationships.
He found that those who had sex with their partner once or twice a week had higher amounts of immunoglobulin A than those who had sex less than once a week or not at all. Charnetski was, however, surprised to discover that the immune systems of those who had sex three or more times a week were comparable to the no-sex group. According to Charnetski, the possible explanation for this was that “couples who have sex just once a week are simply in healthier, more secure relationships and have nothing to prove.”
It helps you fight cortisol
“Research on the neurobiology of love has shown its impact on several hormones and neuro-transmitters,” says Prevention adviser Dr Prabha S Chandra, professor of psychiatry, National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro-Sciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru. Romantic love, triggers the release of several neuro-transmitters such as dopamine, neuro-hormones like oxytocin and neuro-peptides like endorphin, that have an overall bearing on stress and well-being.
“These happy chemicals have a positive effect on your cerebral (and physical) ambiance and seem to dispel disease-and-stress-inducing negative chemicals,” explains Dr Jitendra Nagpal, senior consultant psychiatrist, Vidyasagar Institute of Mental Health and Neuro-Sciences (VIMHANS) and Moolchand Medcity, New Delhi. The release of oxytocin, for example, evokes feelings of contentment, calmness and a sense of security focused around your partner. Combined, all of these factors help to reduce stress.
Sex, experts emphasize, is only one aspect of love, important, but not as powerful as the real magic in relationships-bonding. That sense of being united, even when bad times strike, is what Brian Baker, a psychiatrist at the University of Toronto, calls cohesion. And Baker’s research has found that cohesion is crucial to both health and happiness (more than a good sex life!).
In one study, he tracked 229 adults under job strain. Though they had higher BP to begin with, spouses in pleasurable marriages actually helped to lower systolic BP by 2.5 mm/Hg over a 12-month period.
He also found that happy couples seem to know almost instinctively that doing things together and spending more time with each other adds to their happiness (see Work Out Together and Come Closer). It’s not that sex didn’t matter to these couples. “It’s one component of satisfaction, but at the end of the day it was their emotional collaboration that kept the marriage strong,” Baker adds.
It keeps you fit
Sex is a fantastic workout! Says Dr Sudhakar Krishnamurti, andrologist, micro-surgeon, sexual medicine expert, and founder of Andromeda Andrology Centre, Hyderabad, “A vigorous round of sex can burn mega calories!” Studies say it can vary from 85 to 200 calories depending on the intensity and duration.
This is the equivalent of walking between half an hour to an hour on the treadmill. “If it’s vigorous, the pulse rate rises to about 150, which is equivalent to an athlete’s pulse rate at maximum effort. Plus, the sexual act builds the muscles of the pelvis, buttocks, thighs, arms, neck and the thorax,” says Krishnamurti.
Mumbai-based Reebok master trainer Vinata Shetty explains that the pelvic floor muscles that you build through sex not only prevent conditions like urinary continence but also lead to improved core strength.
It makes your skin glow
Sex increases blood circulation which pumps oxygen into your skin, making it glow. “Also, when you are happy (and love does makes you happy, right?), your endocrine system (that regulates your hormones) functions properly, creating a good oestrogen-progesteron balance that has a good effect on your skin,” explains Mumbai-based dermatologist Dr Aparna Santhanam.
Get in the mood for love, people. Getting healthy will never be so much fun!

Hard to believe it’s been more than a decade and a half since a 25-year-old Jennifer Aniston began her rise to super-stardom, playing rich-girl-turned-waitress Rachel Green on NBC’s super successful sitcom “Friends.” So how does the now 42-year-old manage to look better now than she did then?
According to her nutritionist Carrie Wiatt, prior to landing her stint on “Friends,” Jen’s agent insisted she would get more roles if she lost weight, so Wiatt created a portion-controlled, nutrient-dense meal delivery service for the actress, who, indeed, got her breakout role soon after.
“For Jennifer, the key was high protein and low carbs, with plenty of vegetables and fruit and no processed foods,” Wiatt tells “ Life & Style”, “It’s an understatement to say Jen has maintained her weight beautifully.”
Over the years, media reports have had Aniston on a variety of kooky diets, from eating only cucumbers to a baby-food plan, a rumour she has vehemently denied. “I’ve been asked lately, ‘Jen, what’s this baby food diet all about?’ I kept thinking: That’s the strangest question ever,” Aniston said last year. “Sorry, but the last time I had baby food, I believe I was 1. I’ve been on solids for about 40 years now.”
The actress has also admitted that she doesn’t starve herself, and when she feels like indulging, as she once told ABC News, “I pretty much go to grease, fried foods. Salt.”
As for exercise, the svelte star credits yoga for keeping her body toned and slender. “My legs got leaner,” she said in the UK edition of Harper’s Bazaar. “My arms got strong.”

Doctors have long known that infants who are breast-fed contract fewer infections than do those who are given formula. Until fairly recently, most physicians presumed that breast-fed children fared better simply because milk supplied directly from the breast is free of bacteria. Formula, which must often be mixed with water and placed in bottles, can become contaminated easily. Yet even infants who receive sterilized formula suffer from more meningitis and infection of the gut, ear, respiratory tract and urinary tract than do breast-fed youngsters.
The reason, it turns out, is that mother’s milk actively helps newborns avoid disease in a variety of ways. Such assistance is particularly beneficial during the first few months of life, when an infant often cannot mount an effective immune response against foreign organisms. And although it is not the norm in most industrial cultures, UNICEF and the World Health Organization both advise breast-feeding to “two years and beyond.” Indeed, a child’s immune response does not reach its full strength until age five or so.
Several studies indicate that some factors in human milk may induce an infant’s immune system to mature more quickly than it would were the child fed artificially. For example, breast-fed babies produce higher levels of antibodies in response to immunizations. Also, certain hormones in milk (such as cortisol) and smaller proteins (including epidermal growth factor, nerve growth factor, insulinlike growth factor and somatomedin C) act to close up the leaky mucosal lining of the newborn, making it relatively impermeable to unwanted pathogens and other potentially harmful agents. Indeed, animal studies have demonstrated that postnatal development of the intestine occurs faster in animals fed their mother’s milk. And animals that also receive colostrum, containing the highest concentrations of epidermal growth factor, mature even more rapidly.
Other unknown compounds in human milk must stimulate a baby’s own production of secretory IgA, lactoferrin and lysozyme. All three molecules are found in larger amounts in the urine of breast-fed babies than in that of bottle-fed babies. Yet breast-fed babies cannot absorb these molecules from human milk into their gut. It would appear that the molecules must be produced in the mucosa of the youngsters’ urinary tract. In other words, it seems that breast-feeding induces local immunity in the urinary tract.
In support of this notion, recent clinical studies have demonstrated that the breast-fed infant has a lower risk of acquiring urinary tract infections. Finally, some evidence also suggests that an unknown factor in human milk may cause breast-fed infants to produce more fibronectin on their own than do bottle-fed babies.
All things considered, breast milk is truly a fascinating fluid that supplies infants with far more than nutrition. It protects them against infection until they can protect themselves.

Choosing a physician may perhaps be one of the most important decisions an individual can make. Unfortunately, there is certainly very little information available that will serve a potential patient decide if an individual physician is right for them. There are a few options though, although they are generally relatively weak considering precisely what the ramifications are for the affected person.
Word of Mouth
This can be subjective; nevertheless someone who has had the same doctor for years may be able to impart an important amount of information regarding the high-quality of a physician. At the same time, the patient that always seems to be about some kind of medication and it seems to never get better can say plenty about a physician as well. This will not always be the case; a patient might just be that sick, however may be worth investigating.
Location of Practice
Although it might always be the case, the area the location where the physician has set up his or her perform may indicate how good there’re. A top physician may require top dollar, and where they will practice could indicate the best way skilled they are. \When it comes to well-being though, it may be worth it.
Trial time period for Physicians
A physician may look fantastic on paper, but in practice they will not be the right fit. A good number of insurance plans will allow changing with physicians, although they usually need a reason for the switch. Suffering from several physicians can be a difficult process as well. Testing unique physicians is a good idea for a doctor, but unfortunately will not improve specialists, and even surgeons. For these people, there really is no way to have a clue how good they are until afterwards.
There are ways to find a good medical doctor, difficult as it may be. An authorized, board certified physician will be a minimum of adequate most of the time, but for a decision as personal as getting a health care practitioner, adequate might not be enough. There are changes currently being made in insurance companies and even govt regarding the quality of doctor’s, but the changes are shatteringly slow. Until then, there are few strong options.

The tamarind fruit is a long 12-15 cm brown pod. Inside the pod of the tamarind is a soft, brown pulp with shiny black seeds. It is this pulp that people eat to get all the nutritional and health benefits of the tamarind.
Initially it has sour taste, but it gets sweeter as it ripens. Tamarind is a rich source of vitamins (vitamin C and vitamin
, fiber, calcium, magnesium, potassium and other nutrients.
Tamarind is used in Indian Ayurvedic Medicine. It has been found to treat gastric and/or digestion problems effectively.
Tamarind contains antioxidants like carotene, vitamin C, and flavonoids. Another powerful antioxidant which is responsible for the sour taste of tamarind is tartaric acid. These antioxidants protect the body against cancer and the damaging effects of free radicals.
The juice of tamarind act as a mild laxative. Tamarind pulp is a rich source of dietary fiber. The dietary fibers augment bowel movements and prevent constipation. 100 gm of tamarind fruit pulp provides around 13 percent of the daily value for dietary fiber. The fiber attaches to the toxins in the food and offers protection to the mucous membrane of the colon against harmful chemicals. You can take one or two tablespoons of tamarind in the evening or drink a glass of tamarind juice at night before you go to sleep. To make the juice, soak the tamarind pulp in water for an hour and then puree the pulp using a fork. Mix it with water and drink.
Tamarind helps in the lowering of the blood cholesterol and blood sugar levels in the body, according to animal studies. The dietary fibers present in the pulp get attached to bile salts (produced from cholesterol) and diminish their re-absorption in the colon. This helps in the elimination of the “bad” LDL cholesterol from the body. However, human clinical trials are needed before it can be recommended for the treatment of hypercholesterolemia (high cholesterol) or diabetes.
Tamarind fruit pulp is a rich source of potassium. Potassium aids in the regulation of heart rate and blood pressure by controlling the effects of sodium in the body. This helps promote a healthy heart.
Tamarind can lead to the healing of inflammations. Various combinations of the pulp, leaves and flowers, when applied on painful and swollen joints, can ease discomfort to a large extent.
Tamarind aids in the digestion of food. However, people who have digestive problems associated with acid reflux should avoid it. For those who suffer from loss of appetite, tamarind fruit drink works as a great appetite stimulant. To create a tamarind fruit drink, mix the pulp with a little water and combine it with black pepper, cloves and cardamom.
Tamarind fruit, being an extremely rich source of vitamin C, helps strengthen the immune system and protect the body against cold. It prevents scurvy (characterized by bleeding gums, loosened teeth and anemia caused by a lack of vitamin C).It also serves as a good cure to reduce fevers. Dilute the tamarind fruit pulp in water and add half a teaspoon of pepper and salt to taste. Drink it hot to get the benefits.
Tamarind pulp in the diluted form, can be used to help get rid of stomach worms and other intestinal parasites in young children.
Tamarind in your diet may delay the progression of fluorosis (bone and dental disease caused by excessive consumption of fluoride)
Gargling tamarind fruit boiled in water provides relief from a sore throat.

You probably don’t realize it, but Aubrey De Grey is one of the leading anti aging researchers in the world. This lecture he gave at TED is a major treat and will give you insights into what the top thinking in the world is on this subject.
Centenarians or older, are actually becoming more and more common in the United States. In 1950, there were 2,300 U.S. centenarians and by 2003, there were more than 40,000.
It does not seem unrealistic that in the not too distant future, science will be able to add one year of longevity per year, so the AVERAGE life expectancy could be over 100 years in the next 30 years or so. I believe the current maximum lifespan is about 120 years and any manipulation of genes is unlikely to improve your lifespan significantly beyond that. However the more I study this area, the more I am absolutely convinced that Professor De Grey is absolutely correct, and it is not unrealistic to extend the human lifespan well beyond 120 years old.
Ironically, even though most people express an interest in living to their maximum potential, many people refuse to use the available methods that are sure to slow aging. If they did, we would surely not be facing the ever-increasing epidemics of obesity and diabetes in the United States.
Unfortunately, drug companies are aware of this fact as well and are rapidly jumping on the bandwagon to develop highly unnatural analogs, which they can patent and use to make a handsome profit. You can be virtually guaranteed that these synthetic versions will be grossly inferior to the real deal, especially when it comes to side effects and potential toxicity.
Rather than sitting idly by, waiting for another “magic pill” that will erase old age – with who-knows-what kind of unforeseen and potentially disastrous side effects – you can take control of your health, and hence increase your lifespan, NOW.
What Can You do NOW to Maximize Your Lifespan?
If you want to take advantage of the advances in this new science you will need to follow healthy lifestyle principles like the ones outlined below. Probably the most important is normalizing your insulin and leptin levels.
There is no way you will age slowly with elevated insulin or leptin levels.
• Keep your insulin levels low – Elevated insulin levels are one of your key physical influences that contribute to rapid aging, and there is no question that optimoizing your insulin levels is an absolute necessity if you want to slow down your aging process. Consuming sugar and grains will increase your insulin level, which is the equivalent of slamming your foot on your aging accelerator. There’s simply no more potent way to accelerate aging than eating sugar and grains.
• Eat a healthy diet based on your nutritional type – My nutritional plan, based on natural whole foods, is your first step toward increasing your chances of living a longer, healthier life. The heart of my program is the elimination, or at the very least, drastic reduction of grains and sugar in your diet, which is a far simpler way of restricting your calorie intake naturally, without suffering.
• Take your omega-3 fats – Krill or fish oil is a strong factor in helping people live longer, and many experts believe that it is likely the predominant reason why the Japanese are the longest lived race on the planet.
• Get your antioxidants from foods – Antioxidants have been shown to have anti-aging effects. Good sources include blueberries, cranberries, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, cherries, beans, and artichokes.
• Switch to coconut oil – Another excellent anti-aging food is coconut oil. In fact, it’s doubly beneficial because it can be both eaten and applied directly to your skin. Coconut oil can be used in place of other oils, margarine, butter, or shortening, and can be used for all your cooking needs. It can help you lose weight, or maintain your already good weight, reduce your risk of heart disease, and lower your cholesterol, among other things.
• Get your resveratrol naturally – Resveratrol is one of the forerunners in the anti-aging pill race, but more than likely, by the time they’ve manipulated it into a synthetic pill, it won’t be healthy for you. Although resveratrol is the antioxidants found in red wine. I can’t recommend drinking wine in the hopes of extending your life because alcohol is a neurotoxin that can poison your brain and harm your body’s delicate hormonal balance. Instead, get your resveratrol from natural sources, such as whole grape skins and seeds, raspberries, mulberries, and peanuts.
• Get plenty of exercise – Studies repeatedly show that regular, moderate-to-vigorous exercise can help prevent or delay your onset of hypertension, obesity, heart disease, osteoporosis, and the falls that lead to hip fracture. Although a lifetime of regular exercise is ideal, it’s never too late to start. It’s been shown that even individuals in their 70’s can substantially increase both strength and endurance with exercise.
• Avoid as many chemicals, toxins, and pollutants as possible – This includes tossing out your toxic household cleaners, soaps, personal hygiene products, air fresheners, bug sprays, lawn pesticides, and insecticides, just to name a few, and replacing them with non-toxic alternatives.
• Avoid pharmaceutical drugs – Pharmaceutical drugs kill thousands of people prematurely every year – as an expected side effect of the action of the drug. And, if you adhere to a healthy lifestyle, you most likely will never need any of them in the first place.
There is no quick fix when it comes to life extension – no pill and no magic fountain. While there are certainly some exceptions – some centenarians do little in the way of healthy eating or exercise – for most of us, living a healthy life well into our 100’s will take some dedication to making healthy lifestyle changes, and it’s up to you to decide if it’s worth it.

People who fear the dentist’s drill now have the option of getting their teeth fixed using a near pain-less procedure. Dental lasers deliver quick pulses of heat energy to the treatment area. Lasers help dentists conserve as much bone and teeth as possible without damaging the surrounding tissues and structures. They remove the cavities without the pressure and vibration and sound of the dental drill. Also, patients require little or no anesthesia for most dental procedures.
In recent research conducted at the University of California, Los Angeles, only three in 1,300 patients requested local anesthesia for laser treatment. Extensive pre-clinical and clinical studies have shown good overall performance and safety, better patient comfort and satisfaction when compared with the traditional high-speed drill.
There are several advantages to using a laser. One, the procedures are performed using soft tissue. Dental lasers may not require stitches. Little or no anesthesia is needed for most procedures. There is minimal blooding as the high-energy light beam aids in clotting. The beam also sterilizes the area being worked on, lowering risk of bacterial infection. The precision lowers damage to the surrounding tissue, with patients reporting faster wound healing and tissue regeneration.

Bananas include three natural sugars; sucrose, fructose and glucose coupled with much needed dietary fibre, a banana provides an instant, sustained as well as substantial boost of power. Preliminary research has established that just two bananas provide enough energy for any arduous 90-minute workout. No question the banana is the number one fruit with the world’s leading athletes. But energy isn’t the only method a banana can help people keep fit. It can also help conquer or prevent a considerable number associated with health conditions and conditions, making it a must to increase a person’s diet. After scanning this summary on bananas, an individual will in no way look at a banana in the same way again.
A few people have a small problem with the ingestion of bananas, the easy resolution, though it may seem strange, is in order to dust just a little “pepper” about the banana prior to eating, it really works like a charm. Some things that a “banana each day” might perform for an individual; help with anaemia, blood pressure level, brain power, constipation, depressive disorders, hangovers, acid reflux, morning sickness, mosquito attacks, nerves, obese, PMS as well as SAD, smoking, stress, cerebral vascular accidents, physical as well as emotional heat control, ulcers and hpv warts. This list could continue.
Bananas are big in iron and bananas can encourage the manufacture of haemoglobin within the blood and so helps in cases of “anemia”. This exceptional exotic fruit is very higher than average in potassium however low in sodium, which makes it the perfect fruit to defeat blood pressure. So much so, the country’s Food and Drug Administration has simply allowed the actual banana business to make official statements for the actual fruit’s ability to reduce the risk of “blood pressure” and “heart stroke”. More than three hundred school students at a Twickenham (Middlesex) school were assisted through their exams this season by eating bananas at breakfast every day, breaks, and lunch time in an offer to increase their “mental ability”. Groundwork has shown that the actual potassium-packed fresh fruit can assist learning by making individuals more aware.
The simple banana is high in dietary fibre, such as bananas in the diet can help “stop constipation” and restore natural bowel action, helping conquer the problem without relying on stimulant laxatives. According to a current study carried out by MIND amongst individuals struggling through “depression”, many individuals felt far better after consuming a banana. This happens because bananas consist of tryptophan, a type of protein that the entire body converts into serotonin, known to make a man or woman relax, improve their mood and usually make a person feel happier. One of the swiftest ways of curing a “hangover” would be to make a banana milkshake or smoothie, sweetened along with honey. The banana calms the belly and, with the help of the honey, increases reduced glucose levels, while the milk soothes and re-hydrates their own system.
Bananas have an all natural alkalizer impact in the body; so if an individual is experiencing “heartburn”, consider eating a banana for comforting relief. Snacking on bananas in between meals helps to keep blood sugar levels up and avoids “morning sickness”. Just before reaching for the insect bite remedy, try rubbing the actual affected region brought about by “mosquito attacks” with the inside of the banana skin. Many people discover it incredibly beneficial at decreasing swelling and discomfort. Bananas with regard to nerves, they’re high in B nutritional vitamins that help calm the actual nervous system.
Overweight and in the workplace? Research at the Institute of Psychology in Austria found demands at the office leads to gorging on comfort foodstuff like chocolate, potato chips and crisps. Looking at 5,thousand hospital sufferers, researchers found the most obese had been more likely to be in higher-pressure jobs. The ground-breaking report came to the conclusion that, to prevent panic-induced food craving, people have to control their blood sugar levels through snacking upon high carbohydrate foods each and every two hrs to maintain levels constant.
Forget about the medicines with “PMS” and eat the banana. The vitamin B6 it has regulates blood sugar levels, which can influence an individual’s state of mind. Bananas and (SAD) or “seasonal affective disorder” can help SAD affected individuals mainly because these people contain the actual natural mood enhancer tryptophan. Bananas can also help people trying to stop “smoking”. The actual B6, B12 they contain, as well as the potassium and magnesium found in them, assist the body recuperate in the consequences associated with nicotine withdrawal. Bananas and “stress”, blood potassium is a vital mineral, which helps stabilize the actual heartbeat, transmits oxygen towards the brain as well as manages the body’s water balance. When individuals are stressed, their metabolism rises, therefore decreasing an individual’s potassium amounts. These could be rebalanced by using a high-potassium banana snack food.
Bananas can assist with “cerebro-vascular events” and in line with the research in “The New England Journal of Medicine,” eating bananas as a part of a normal diet can reduce the risk of “death by strokes” by as much as 40%! Amazing! Many other cultures observe bananas like a “cooling” fruit that may lower both “physical and emotional temperature” of pregnant women. In Thailand, for example, pregnant women eat bananas to ensure their baby is born with a cool temperature.
The actual banana is used as the actual nutritionary food against intestinal tract disorders like ulcers because of its soft texture and level of smoothness. It may be the only uncooked fruit that can be eaten without distress in over-chronicler instances. It additionally neutralizes over-acidity and lowers irritation by covering the lining of the actual stomach. Those enthusiastic on all-natural alternate options claim that if a person wants to kill off a verruca, take a piece of banana skin and place it on the verruca, using the yellow part out. Very carefully hold the skin in place with the plaster or surgical tape!
A banana in fact is an organic remedy for countless afflictions. When a person even compares bananas to an apple, it has fourfold the protein, twice the actual carbohydrate, three times the phosphorus, five times the vitamin An and iron, and two times the other vitamins and minerals. It’s also abundant in potassium and it is one of the best value foods around.
Understandably its time to adjust that well-known expression so that people say, “The banana each day keeps the doctor away!” Bananas must be the grounds why monkeys are so very pleased all the time!

Do you have naturally flawless skin? Or are you one of the lucky ladies who has to put some effort into creating it?

We’re all beautiful, delicate, and strong — all at once. But we still have to work on protecting our beauty from breakouts, clogged pores.. and most of all, wrinkles.
Below are just a few quick basics each one of us can incorporate into our daily routines in order to not only preserve our beauty, but also improve the long-term health and integrity of our skin.
Skin Type
The first thing you’ll need to do, is have a thorough understanding of your skin type. No single anti-aging treatment can work wonders for every skin type. If it works for a girl with dry skin, then it most likely will be completely inappropriate for someone oily — so before even looking into any specific products or treatment ideas, learn more about your skin type!
If you’re dry, hydration becomes a priority, and oils found in products will often be your friend. If you’re oily, you’ll want to look for gel-based moisturizers, as heavy products will often clog your pores and result in breakouts (and being that many anti-aging moisturizers are heavy, you’ll want to pay special attention to product ingredients and the way it feels going on your skin).
Anti-Aging Must-Knows
One of the most depressing skin problems is the appearance of wrinkles. Lines can appear on any skin type, and ladies in their early 20s will often start seeing them on their foreheads.
While your specific skin type will dictate the exact treatment you’ll want to seek out, the following tips are ones that should be take into consideration — no matter what your skin type (or age, for that matter).
*Quit smoking forever
Yes, I realize you’re fitness nuts around here, but even second-hand smoke can clog your pores and damage the outermost layer of your skin! So, stay away from not only cigarettes, but anyone holding them as well!
*A good sunscreen with SPF is essential for us all
Skin care is incomplete without a product that will block out most of those damaging UV rays. Got sunscreen in your foundation? Great, but you’ll STILL need a sunscreen underneath!! It’s only effective when applied liberally, so don’t make the mistake of going over your face with a tiny dab — that’s nothing more than a waste!
*One product that works miracles for all the skin types is water.
Drink at least six to eight glasses of plain water daily for nourishing your skin. Women take this little tip for granted until they start to actually follow it — once they see the difference hydration makes in their skin, they’re seen carrying that water bottle no matter where they go!
Water moisturizes from the inside out — so those of you with dry or dehydrated skin take note! You have no right to complain about the condition of your skin until this simple requirement is fulfilled.
*Look for antioxidants in all you put into your body, and onto your skin.
Colorful veggies, fruits, and berries are brimming with antioxidants your body needs for optimal health. Guess what? Your skin depends on these nutrients too!
Low carbing? That’s no excuse — colorful veggies are aplenty, so don’t skip ‘em!
Vitamins that are especially important for skin health are E, C, A and K. Vitamin E protects the skin from the harmful free radicals that are present everywhere in the air, and this one in particular is present in most skin care products, as well.
Smart Shopping
If you’re planning to buy an anti-wrinkle cream, then you must cross check first that the cream you are purchasing has the following skin care ingredients.
*Babassu
For any skin care product or an anti wrinkle cream the presence of this skin care ingredient is useful in gaining that flawless, dewy look to the skin. This ingredient is a natural wax (no, it won’t clog your pores!), and is used for softening and soothing the skin. It is very efficient in creating a barrier of moisture around the skin so that no germs and dirt can attack the skin and the skin remains soft for a long period of time.
*Alpha Tocopherol
As mentioned above, vitamin E is another ingredient which must be present in the skin care product. It’ll be present in the form of alpha tocopherol, so keep an eye out for it.
Your skin is precious; it’s worth the extra effort. Take the simple steps above and you’ll be on your way to healthy, younger-looking skin in just a few short months.

Want to perk up your love life? Well, then start from the kitchen with food that will give you the oomph factor, says an expert.
Hormone and anti-ageing specialist Cecilia Tregear says that sex plays an important role in making people look and feel younger.
Tregear, who is based at the Wimpole Skin Clinic in Harley Street, London, has worked with hundreds of couples over the course of her 25-year career.

“The couples who were having lots of regular sex almost always looked younger than those who weren’t. They were also slimmer, fitter, healthier and happier. Sexual activity, in my view, is an accurate thermometer for measuring health,” the Daily Mail quoted her as saying.
And she realised the people who were having lots of sex in their relationships had one key factor in common: their diet. All of them were eating extremely nutritious food.
She explains: “Good nutrition is essential for the healthy production of hormones which maintain the libido and allow for regular and fulfilling sexual activity.”
She has devised the Between the Sheets diet, which promises to perk up your libido. Combined with regular exercise it should ensure you not only have regular, great sex-just like you did in your youth-but look and feel younger too.
STEP ONE: FEED YOUR BRAIN
According to Tregear, the first step to boosting your love life is to feed your brain. “The biggest sexual organ is the brain, which produces the chemicals and hormones that trigger feelings of love and attraction, arousal and orgasm. We need to make sure we’re eating the right foods to ensure the production of these chemicals and hormones.”
First, it’s important to have a diet that boosts the levels of the neurotransmitter dopamine, released by the brain. Dopamine is the feel-good chemical associated with the emotions of anticipation and desire. As such, it is vital to a healthy sex drive.
STEP TWO: BALANCE YOUR HORMONES
Having a good balance of hormones is essential to a healthy sex life, which is why the menopause – when hormone levels drop – can cause havoc with your sex life. There are three hormones responsible for arousal and sexual desire: oestrogens, which are present in both men and women, testosterone, also in both men and women, and DHEA (dehydroepiandrosterone), which is found in women only.
“A good balance of animal fat in meat and fish and good cholesterol, found in eggs for example, encourages the production of sex hormones, improving libido. It’s vital to eat plenty of good quality protein, ideally a portion with every meal,” said Tregear.
STEP THREE: BOOST YOUR ENERGY
For good sex, you need stamina and energy. While a generally healthy diet will help you feel strong and healthy, it’s important to eat food that will increase your levels of Human Growth Hormone (HGH). This hormone increases sexual desire and provides the stamina and energy needed for a sexual marathon. To increase production, eat organic protein from beef, fish, and chicken.
