Visitors build your business

03/27/10 | by Ajit | Categories: Diseases

Your interest in Online marketing confirms that you are aware of Facebook, You Tube and Twitter.

Have you marked any similarity among the above online companies? These companies have provided a platform – a technology that enables the visitors to upload easily; and making it easier for others to visit it and interact among them & their friends. Their visitors have built that business by creating and uploading content for them.

Do you wish to start a company on the similar lines and enjoy the luxury of getting your site made by others for you? People will develop followings, build relationships and communicate. Strangers will become friends, pass the word virally and your company will grow fast.

Most important factor for the growth of any company is based on the content, it offers. Content is King.

Properly developed & formatted content (text, images and video) attracts free and targeted traffic. The targeted traffic is the number of visitors who visit your site, as they are impressed by the content at your site. Impressed visitors develop trust and confidence in the information which is available at your site. They may/will visit your site regularly, if the quality of information is maintained. This traffic may convert into a regular income.

Most of the content will be developed for you by your visitors. Your site will start building, your traffic will soar and your business will grow.

Let us look into the economics of this proposal:
It may cost you millions of dollars to build a platform, which will be beyond your resources. Bloggers may host it FREE for you but you will lose all the control on the business. But you have another ray of hope. You can use SBI-2.0 to accelerate your business growth.

SBI! Already delivers sites that attract high volumes of targeted niche traffic and become profitable, growing small e-businesses. SBI-2.0 now also enables your visitors to create unlimited Web pages for you… FREE.

Let us consider an example of site for ‘Child modelling’. An SBI site for ‘Child modelling’ has an unmatched track record of success. SBI 2.0 makes it possible for the site to gain active participation of …people interested in child models, agents, and parents, clients to build pages on different topics and comment on each others’ pages.

SBI! 2.0 is the multi-million dollar technology that delivers the platform that enables “Web 2.0 for small business sites.”

You are no longer on the outside looking in, wondering how in the world you can capitalize upon people’s desire to share, to show off, to help, to have fun, to contribute, in areas and ways that interest them.

In many ways, it’s the best form of user-generated content. Your visitors don’t merely create “Profiles” and gossip ("Whassup?"). They do much more than just upload photos or videos. They create real, valuable text-based Web pages, the kind of content that Google really gets its teeth into and delivers tons of long-tail search traffic.

You get the best of Web 2.0. Visitors create valuable content for you, quality-controlled by you.
1. Turn any SBI! page into an irresistible invitation for visitors to join in the fun.
2. Visitors build Web pages to share everything from Caribbean adventures to, um, unusual tattoos.
3. Other visitors then comment and rate the pages.
4. Viral e-mail notifications are built into every step!
And it’s all internally linked, automatically, to strengthen the search rankings of your pages that offer C2 invitations. So your “core keyword traffic” increases, too.

Content 2.0 (C2) was originally developed as an optional add-on to SBI!. It sold separately to SBIers for $99. It has undergone 2 years of additional development. Now it’s no longer an “optional add-on.”
SBI-2.0’s all-in-one bundled price of $299, the same price SBI! has had for years.

4 Tips for Reducing Social Media Stress

03/27/10 | by Ajit | Categories: Diseases

We are all well aware of the benefits of the social media age, but the challenge is finding a balance, and living a healthy and rich life both online and off. If we are not careful, our increasingly connected life can take a negative toll on our mind and body.

Four steps to improve upon a stressful social media life:

1. Take Time to Disconnect

Most of our day time is spent in viewing the screen on the computers. Have you ever experienced ‘Brain freeze’? Well a good number of executives face it. The only solution could be to leave the computer for some time and take a change. Go around, chat with your friends, eat something and then come back to your seat after 2 hours. You will be able to attend to your work with improved concentration.

2. Deep breathing

Have you heard of ‘Slow breathing soothes your pain”? Deep breathing helps you to lower your cortical levels, increase oxygen levels and lower your stress levels.
One way to help bring awareness to your breath is to set a bell to ring every so often as a reminder. When you hear the bell, pause, take a few moments to focus on your breathing, and then return to work.

3. Eat Food that Adds Energy
How many times have you scarfed down an unhealthy lunch while you stared at your computer screen, and soon after noticed that you not only had a stomach ache, but that your energy had been zapped?
Unhealthy food may bring short-term pleasure, but it generally decreases your energy level and ability to focus. There are healthy foods however, that taste good, and at the same time increases your energy level and ability to concentrate. Of course, strong caffeine or a good dose of sugar may give you a quick hit, but soon your energy drops — until you get another hit, and the cycle continues.
There is a place for enjoying unhealthy food, but when it becomes a habit, you won’t be able to live and work at your optimum level. Eating healthy food, and taking the time to do so slowly, increases your ability to fully engage with whatever you’re doing, be it a phone conversation, a meeting, or writing a tweet.
Apps to Live By: We tend to eat healthier when we make our food instead of getting take out. Whole Foods lists numerous healthy recipes The next time you feel like you could use some nourishment, try making a healthy meal for yourself instead of ordering that slice of pizza.

4. Awaken the Body: Move
If there has been one major change in people’s lives in recent years, it may well be this: We are more stationary than any previous generation. Many of us sit at desks for hours and hours each day. The New York Times references a number of studies that revealed that just working out once a day is not as helpful as integrating movement throughout your day.
This means that when there is a chance, get up and move. Work standing up for part of the day, walk instead of drive to lunch, ride a bike to work if possible, and walk over and talk to a colleague instead of shooting off an e-mail to him or her.
There are a number of yoga and stretching apps you can download. The challenge is to integrate them in your day. Try making a commitment of five minutes in the morning, at lunch, and before going to bed to do some stretching Yoga Journal has more information in this category.

Conclusion: Learn to Surf
It is extremely unlikely that the pace of information we consume is going to slow down. In fact, it is likely to increase, as our friends not only post what they are doing, but also where they are at any given time.
The challenge is finding a balance within the information stream. There is an old saying: “You cannot stop the waves, but you can learn to surf.” We are not likely to stop the waves of information coming at us today (nor would we want to), but we can find a balance; we can live consciously and connected, with an active social media life and a healthy body and mind.

Slow Breathing May Soothe Pain

03/25/10 | by Ajit | Categories: Diseases

The simple practice of slow breathing may help people deal with the physical and emotional reactions to moderate pain, a small study suggests.

Researchers say the findings, published in the journal Pain, offer support for the idea that yoga-style breathing exercises and meditation can help ease chronic pain.

The study gauged pain responses among 27 women with the chronic pain condition fibromyalgia and 25 healthy women the same age.

Researchers found that when they had the women perform slow breathing, it dampened their reactions to a moderately painful stimulus — brief pulses of heat from a probe placed on the palm. Overall, the women rated the pain intensity as lower and reported less emotional discomfort when they slowed their normal breathing rate down by half.
The benefit was greater and more consistent among the healthy study participants than those with fibromyalgia.

However, the findings suggest that breathing techniques could offer an additional way to deal with fibromyalgia or other types of chronic pain, according to lead researcher Dr. Alex J. Zautra, a psychology professor at Arizona State University in Tempe.

“What’s really valuable is that we were able to put this yoga-like, meditation approach under the microscope,” he told Reuters Health in an interview.

The study did not assess any formal yoga or meditation technique, but did look at the effects of becoming more aware of your breathing, which is at the foundation of those practices. The findings, according to Zautra, appear to be the first to show that “how we breathe” does alter perceptions of and responses to pain.

He and his colleagues are currently studying the effects of mindfulness meditation as part of fibromyalgia treatment.

Fibromyalgia is a syndrome marked by widespread aches and pains — on both sides of the body and above and below the waist — along with other symptoms such as fatigue, sleep problems and depression. Its cause is unclear — there are no physical signs, such as inflammation — but researchers believe that fibromyalgia involves problems in how the brain processes pain signals.

“It is not ‘all in your head,’” Zautra noted, “but it may be in your brain.”

Slow breathing, he explained, may help by bringing a better balance to the activities of the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems.
The sympathetic nervous system activates what is often dubbed the “fight-or-flight” response during times of stress — increasing heart rate, blood pressure and perspiration, for example. If the sympathetic nervous system is seen as an accelerator, then the parasympathetic nervous system is akin to a brake.

Learning breathing techniques might be particularly useful for painful conditions like fibromyalgia, but Zautra said there is also potential for helping people deal with other types of chronic pain, like osteoarthritis and lower back pain.

People are “remarkably resilient” in their capacity to recover from pain, Zautra explained. “Sometimes they just need a little help.”

Potential cure for breast cancer

03/18/10 | by Ajit | Categories: Diseases

Scientists have found a new way to freeze breast tumours using streams of super-cold gas, which not only kills the cancer cells but also ensures that it does not return.

The technique, called cryotherapy, requires injecting freezed gas around the tumour growth using fine needle, evading the need for invasive suffering. It will also save the patient against any major discomfort.

“Our findings suggest freezing tumours was both safe and effective,” lead author Peter Littrup from the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute in Detroit said.

“When used for local control or potential cure of breast cancer, it provided safe and effective breast conservation,” Littrup said.
The trial was carried out on 13 patients who refused to have breast operations to remove their tumours.

The team followed the patients for five years—the duration in which the patients should not suffer a relapse in order to term a treatment as effective. “Minimally invasive cryotherapy opens the door for potential new treatment for breast cancer”, Littrup said.

Diet myths busted

03/17/10 | by Ajit | Categories: Diseases

You may be eating smaller meals through the day, opting for low fat foods and drinking de-caffeinated coffee; you may be going about completely wrong with your diet regime. Here are a few diet myths busted:

Blueberries contain most antioxidants
Blueberries are being known as one of the healthier food because of the amount of antioxidants they have. This does not make it superior than other fruits. However, scientists are finding other foods that have more antioxidants like dark chocolate. In fact, grapes have almost same amount of antioxidants as grapes.

Low-fat foods help you lose weight

Low fat foods are not always a better option. In fact on reading the label carefully, you might just notice that they have been stuffed with sugar, carbs, and artificial sweeteners and may just have as many calories as the normal options. It will be a better idea to have smaller helpings.

Eating at night makes you fat
According to research on monkeys it was shown that body weight remains same no matter how much food they ate at night. The body burns off at the same rate during night. However, avoiding food in the evenings will help you lose weight.

Eggs raise cholesterol levels

Although eggs have cholesterol, or body varies the amount it produces. Eggs are in fact low in calories- a boiled egg has only 75 calories. According to research, people who went on a two-egg-a-day-diet for 12 days had not raised their cholesterol levels. Eggs are rich in nutrients like vitamin D and B12.

Coffee dehydrates your body

Coffee is not a diuretic. For regular drinkers, coffee counts towards your daily fluid intake. People who are newly introduced to the drink may find themselves frequenting the loo.

Decaf coffee won’t affect your energy levels
De caffeinated coffee has 5 mg caffeine as compared to 90 mg more in filter coffee. As good as it may sound, low levels of caffeine may actually make you sleepier than no coffee. According to studies, caffeine levels less than 10 mg makes you more tired and lesser memory skills.

Always keep fruit and veggies in the fridge

Keeping your fruits and veggies in the fridge is actually robbing them off the nutrients. Scientists in Oklahoma in the U.S discovered that a watermelon left at room temperature had double the levels of beta-carotene and 20 per cent more lycopene - both antioxidants - after two weeks than one stored in the fridge.

Eat smaller meals through the day

All diet books dictate and all celebs swear by it. However, you are not more likely to lose weight this way than eating three square meals a day. Eating little and often may control hunger but it cold also mean that you consume more calories.

Pale vegetables have fewer nutrients

While opting for brighter coloured veggies may be a better idea, do not ignore the pale coloured ones. Cabbages are rich in vitamins A, B, C and K while cauliflower is a good source of anti-oxidants, vitamin C and foliate.

A bag that could solve India's toilet woes

03/11/10 | by Ajit | Categories: Diseases

Millions of slum dwellers have to struggle for a clean toilet but there is no solution. Most free community toilets built by the government are rendered unusable because of the lack of maintenance.

According to United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) data, an estimated 400,000 children under five years of age die each year due to diarrhoea and other infections caused by poor sanitation and hygiene which is largely because of open defecation of waste that contaminates drinking water.

But, now a Swedish firm has come out with a solution – Peepoo, a biodegradable toilet bag that is easy to use and hygienic. It can be used as fertiliser.

The Peepoo is clean from the beginning and doesn’t smell after use and very importantly, it makes collection of waste very easy,” Camila Wirseen said.

“It works like micro treatment plant and cuts the contamination. This will save lives.”

“Peepoo is not just a toilet bag, it’s a solution to human waste disposal problem, the biggest obstacle to sanitation and public health in developing countries like India.” Wilhelmson said in an email interview from Stockholm.

“It will be of great help particularly for women, who often wait all day until it is dark to go to the toilet, increasing their chances of infections.”

Describing Peepoo’s other features, the officials said the bioplastic bag can be used as fertiliser, which is an expensive and scarce commodity in countries like India.

Once used, the 14x38 cm slim elongated bag can be knotted and buried under the earth. With a layer of urea crystals, the waste can turn into fertiliser, killing off disease-producing pathogens found in faeces.

“Not only is it sanitary, they can reuse this to grow crops,” Wilhelmson said.

“You can use it directly in a small container or Garden-in-a-Sack. It can also be processed and mixed with topsoil and loam (clay+sand) creating a soil filled with nutrients.”

About the cost of the bag, the officials said, it will be comparable to the price of polythenes used to collect garbage.

The innovation will prove highly beneficial to control the situation, Wilhelson said, adding that his organisation (Peepoople AB) has carried out a small ground test in Bihar and “the response was overwhelming".

The toilet bag, which has recently undergone field trials in India, Bangladesh and Kenya, is expected to help mitigate the dreadful situation for millions, especially the women in the slum areas,

The market for low-cost toilets in the developing world is about a trillion dollars, according the World Toilet Organization, a sanitation advocacy group, which has been organising World Toilet Summit ever year since 2001.

Single injection cancer cure - Human trials to begin

03/07/10 | by Ajit | Categories: Diseases

Treating cancer with just one injection? It may sound unbelievable, but an Indian medical institute is soon to start human trials to treat cancer in six weeks through a solitary injection dose.

‘It’s a single injection dose medicine to treat cancer. If everything goes fine, it will be a novel medical breakthrough,’ Kushagra Kataria, chief executive officer of Artemis Health Institute in Gurgaon, told IANS.

‘We are set to start human trials in May with a limited number of patients,’ said Kataria, a thoracic oncologist.

He said medical scientists will inject ‘oncolytic virus’ into the human body, which will target the cancer cells and treat patients with much precision and success. Subjects for this trial would be primarily patients suffering from lung, neck and cervical cancer.

Artemis, one of the leading tertiary care hospitals in India, will be conducting the trials in collaboration with Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Centre in New York.

Kataria said animal trials conducted in Britain had given encouraging results. ‘The drug has already been tested on mice with human cancer tumours. It has given optimistic results.’

In the current conventional therapy, cancer treatment affects healthy cells along with cancerous cells but in the new treatment, the medicine will not affect any other cells of the body other than the cancerous tumour and cells.

‘It will be targeted therapy,’ Kataria explained. ‘If everything goes well, we believe it will reduce all side effects of the conventional treatment.’
He added that right from finance to time, the treatment will be more human friendly.

While tens of thousands of people die every year due to cancer, India is home to nearly two million patients at any given period of time.

Cancer cure – easier way

Rick had a ten-inch tumour in his colon. Nothing he tried stopped the daily pain, bleeding or flatulence. All three cleared up after his first meal. His huge tumour eventually disappeared.

He started with the pepper bread. He had never felt better, at least not in many months. The fatigue and pain are gone….There is a definite positive difference from the pepper bread that no other food, supplement, or treatment gave him.

Chuck’s prostate cancer was discovered by a biopsy. He had a Gleason 6 (3+3). His prostate was a little larger than a baseball. After about 2-3 months, his prostate shrank down to the size of a lemon. Later still, the size went down to a walnut. His doctor performed another biopsy. No cancer was found at all. The pathologist was so surprised he wrote on the biopsy report, “Wow.” That might be the first time that word was ever written on a biopsy report.

Michael also had prostate cancer. Over time, his tumour shrank 55% based on his last report

A man had stomach cancer. He didn’t want to follow the recipe. But his severe stomach pains got the best of him, so he relented and gave it a try.He was scheduled for stomach surgery, so he was only able to follow the program for a week prior to the surgery. When the surgery was attempted, no cancer was found!

A woman named Kelly shared her results. She was very pleased and excited to inform that the (stabbing, knife piercing) pains in her right breast were completely gone, and so was the lump!

All the patients followed a simple recipe for the above miracles.

Small changes can help you stay sharp later in life and could keep your brain in tip-top shape.

On “The Early Show Saturday Edition,” Dr. Cynthia Green, Ph.D., has spelled out some tips for the same, reports CBS News.

Green and the editors of Prevention magazine wrote, “Brainpower Game Plan: Sharpen Your Memory, Improve Your Concentration, and Age-Proof Your Mind in Just 4 Weeks.”

Exercise: Go for a walk or run, swim - anything to get yourself moving.
Seek new challenges: Look for some simple ways to push you out of your intellectual routine every day, like - brushing teeth with non-dominant hand, taking a new route to work.

Get your head in the game: Spend 10 to 20 minutes every day giving your everyday intellectual skills a good workout by playing games that require you to play against the clock. Play board games like Boggle or Set.

Socialize: Connect with others in a meaningful way each and every day.

Scratch your head and give exercise to your brain. Visit: http://www.puzzle.dse.nl/index_us.html
